Just went with my family to The Quarter Creole Cuisine and Mozwell Claremont for graduation meals and both were really good. We paid through InKind and got 25% cashback too which was nice.
If anyone’s still looking for graduation meal plans nearby, definitely worth checking out!
I am going to be a sophmore at Pitzer and I was wondering what are the limitations to majoring at different schools. I want to declare my main major as engineering at Mudd and even be able to do a double major in financial econ at cmc if possible. is this even possible?
I need to make a decision soon.
CMC will give me alot of flexibility. I could even do a 3-2 program Economics and Engineering ( with Harvey Mudd or Columbia) or do Economics, Philosophy and Public Affairs like I was intended.
LSE is pretty much the most well known one out of the three. However there is no flexibility. My degree would be Geography with a little economics. It is amazing for what it is, one of the best in its field. I can also finish it within 3 years before moving to law conversion, Innovation Policy, Land economy or Economics degree. I will be finishing master degree from LSE and work before I even finish my 3-2 program at CMC.
HEC-Bocconi double degree will give me an amazing experience in two of the best cities in the world (Milan and Paris). I will be studying International politics, data science, management and abit of law. However only 35% of the people get good enough grade to do Master degree unlike CMC and LSE which grades are abit more relax. The degree is also quite new.
So right now i am stuck between choosing CMC or mcgill. I got into the bachelor of commerce program in mcgill and will be probably be following econ/finance at CMC. I want to enter finance most likely ib or vc later on. However what makes the decision tough is the price. AT CMC i would be paying full tuition (100000/y) while at mcgill it would be more like 30000/y. Do u guys think its worth it or no?
I am a Junior exploring which colleges to apply to.
About me: I am female from a rural mountain town in the west. I am social but on the quieter side. Not a huge partier but do like to have fun with my friends. I am more down to earth rather than flashy in a popular Instagram girl type way, but also not nerdy and quirky.
I am looking for a more liberal arts type school that allows me to explore different subjects before committing to a major. I tend to love and thrive in science and math classes, and also want to take a new language and maybe some art classes in college.
I am a dancer and hope to continue dancing in some way, like take a few classes and/or be a part of a student dance company. I also play the violin in my school orchestra and might want to continue that in college as well.
I am thinking Pomona or Scripps? But am just now learning about the different colleges in the consortium so don’t really know the differences other than Harvey Mudd being an intensely science/engineering focussed school.
What are the overall vibes of each school? Which one has the nicest dorms and science facilities?
Hi, newly admitted Pitzer student here, interested in a career in finance or consulting. I’m considering Pitzer seriously because of the 5C Consortium - shared career services, cross-registration at CMC and Pomona, access to the Robert Day program, a shared alumni network with all 5C colleges, etc.
But I’m kinda getting mixed signals from Reddit and WSO. On one side, people say that being at Pitzer (as opposed to, say, CMC) doesn’t matter that much because you have access to the same resources, and employers treat all 5C students as the same. On the other hand, I’ve also seen people say that Pitzer kinda sits at the bottom of the stack for finance recruiting, and that schools like CMC and Pomona are viewed differently than Pitzer at the resume screening stage.
For people who’ve actually gone through recruiting from any of the 5Cs (especially the less finance-oriented colleges like Pitzer or Scripps):
Were the CMC resources like the finance clubs, recruiting events, and Robert Day network genuinely accessible - or were there practical barriers?
Is the “all 5C colleges are treated the same” claim accurate during recruiting? Or did employers and/or alumni’s treat Pitzer separately from target schools like CMC and Pomona?
Have you met any Pitzer students who went through the recruiting process at investment banks and top consulting firms, and what was it like?
For IB/consulting recruiting specifically, how does Pitzer compare to target schools like CMC and Pomona?
Thanks!
hey guys, sorry, not sure if this is the right forum. a couple weeks ago i posted a message on the jhu subreddit asking about which college i should go to out of ucla/cmu/ucsd/jhu/hmc, and because we were waiting on aid from hopkins we had to put down deposits for JHU and also HMC.
i thought i wanted to do medicine (i’ve also gotten a seat for mbbs at manchester in the UK). but now im leaning towards engineering (math has always been my fav subject, 4 years, immediate income). i’m just so confused. i have no idea what to pick! do you guys have any thoughts?
thank you all so much :)
edit: i ended up picking JHU, but this was a horribly difficult decision. perhaps in some other life i’d be a mudder. thank you all for your help in making my decision!
Hi Reddit,
I was admitted to both Pitzer and Scripps. I want to pursue an undergraduate degree in physics and later a master's degree in engineering. I know both colleges share the Nucleus and have about the same access to resources, but I really can't decide between the two.
I heard Pitzer physics courseload and grading is lighter/easier, which would allow me to pursue research and related coursework, but I am wary of the Pitzer student stigma. I also don't know much about Scripps beyond the fact that the core curriculum is kind of underwhelming. Apparently, not many students major in physics in either school.
Does anyone have direct experience with either program or with Pitzer/Scripps in general?
I just committed to Scripps and wanted to hear more about why people love or why people don't! Truth be told, I'm a little worried about being able to fit in with the community and academic/internship opportunities, as well as access to consortium resources. I'm really scared of feeling regret towards choosing Scripps because I chose Scripps over another college by small margin, so I'd love to hear some feedback and perspectives on Scripps!
P.S. i'd love to hear from anyone who goes to another 5C school too!
rly wanna get into hmc but idk how long i have to wait.. goodluck to me!
Hi guys, I was recently admitted to HMC for transfer (physics major). I was extremely stoked, but I'm super afraid of graduate placement. What's the grad prospects like after graduating? And how is the student life at HMC? (or any of the claremont colleges). I tend to really focus on work-life balance, and I'm afraid of burnout but I fear it may be inevitable at HMC.
Any advice would be great :)
Hey guys. Unfortunately I will end up with 1 C+, 4 As, and 1 B+. Am I still in the clear?
To the 7C community—
I know you’re currently in the thick of finals and the general chaos of the semester winding down. As a local who sees you all caffeine-loading in the Village every day, I wanted to share a resource I’ve been working on to help you (and your visiting families) navigate the food scene here.
We all know the "Where should we go to dinner?" text from parents is coming. To save you from the "I don't know, wherever you want" loop, I’ve put together a comprehensive Dining Spotlight specifically designed for a splurge weekend in the Village.
I’m calling it the "Parental Credit Card" Tour. It’s a multi-phase guide to the best decadent meals, dessert walks, and farewell brunches in town.
What’s in the guide:
You can check out the full guide here:

Good luck with the home stretch, everyone. We’re rooting for you from the other side of the tracks!
P.S. For those graduating: If you haven't made reservations for the weekend of May 16-17 yet, consider this your 2-minute warning. Most places are already filling up!
