Mudd, CMC, or Pomona for math/CS as a student athlete

My son plans to major in math and is interested in double majoring or minoring in CS. He will also be an athlete (swimmer). The Claremont Colleges are his top choice, but he is undecided between these 3 schools. Which would you recommend for a math major?

Can a math major at CMC do an off campus major/minor in CS?

Is Mudd a lot more rigorous? Do athletes at Mudd have a hard time balancing everything? Can they have fun or just work and be stressed all the time?

What are outcomes like across the 3 colleges for these majors? I think he may be interested in grad school in CS or employment in either software engineering, quant finance.

Is NEU worth it for CS?

Rising senior building a college list. Is NEU worth the high price tag for a CS major? What kinds of co-ops are CS majors getting these days and how hard are they to get? Is the program respected in industry?

Best hotel near Universal Studios for family with teens?

We are spending 3 nights in LA in early August and plan to spend 1 day at Universal and do tour at Warner Bros another day. We also may want to see UCLA and/or USC campus. We are open to other suggestions for activities. Traveling with 2 adults and 3 teens. We will need 2 rooms and budget is about $400-450 per night per room (total under $3000). We will have a car.

We are considering Kimpton Everly and the Loews. The Hilton Universal and Garland are sold out. Any other suggestions? Kids have only been to LA once when they were a lot younger.

Harvey Mudd vs Pomona for CS/math

My son is considering both schools. Haven't had a chance to visit yet. Having a hard time figuring out which one would be a better fit. How do the schools differ (socially, academics)? Is it possible to take Mudd CS classes if at Pomona or is that difficult?

Is Big Bear nice like Tahoe?

I live in the Bay Area so don't know much about Big Bear. However, I'll be visiting Southern CA for a week in August and would like to spend a few days relaxing. Is Big Bear a nice area (pretty, charming, fun) similar to Tahoe? We go to Truckee a few times a year and wondering what to expect if we rent a place in Big Bear.

CS vs. Computer Eng

As a rising senior, I'm considering which major to apply to. How are these two majors at UCSB? What are the job prospects like? Are they equally difficult to be accepted to? What should I choose as an alternate major (applied math?)? If I end up in applied math, how hard will it be to take comp sci electives?

Thanks!

Smaller colleges for CS

Looking for a very strong school for CS that is smaller (LAC or small university). Which smaller schools have the strongest programs and outcomes? 1470 SAT (800 math), 4.0 unweighted with 6 AP through junior year (5's on calc AB, physics 1 and 2, chemistry, comp sci A, 4 on lang). Decent EC's. Cost is not a factor.

Computer Science

Mines is well known as a strong engineering school, but how is it for CS? I'm currently undecided between engineering and CS. How is the CS program if interested in AI/ML? How are Mines CS grads doing in terms of recruiting / job placement? Is it possible to double major in an engineering field and CS? Thanks!

Burned out - considering time off or lower paid job

I am 49 and husband is 53. We have about about $5MM + $1.5MM in home equity. Husband earns about $550k/year with good job security and potential to make significant more. I make about $360k/year in a demanding job with little additional upside. I am totally burned out in my job and am thinking of making a change. One option is to resign at the end of the year after I receive my annual bonus and take time off. We have 3 teens in high school and middle school. Second option is to look for a job that will hopefully be better work life balance. For instance, I was looking at a nonprofit job that pays about $150k and is fully remote. We live in a high cost area so expenses are about $25k/month. I would like to hear from others who have faced a similar decision and how it turned out. Thanks!
