It’s something I’ve always wondered about. I sometimes catch myself daydreaming that if I keep improving and my iRating keeps climbing, I might actually land a seat someday. I definitely don’t have the budget for it and I know it’s a total long shot, but I wanted to see if any of you—or maybe someone you know—actually managed to get a ride in a real league just by being fast in the sim.
I’m specifically looking for "normal" success stories. I’m not talking about the top 1% pros who get scouted for F2 or major GT3 teams—we all know those movie-style cases exist. I’m looking for something more realistic and grounded, like getting into a local grassroots series, Spec Miata, or any accessible category.
Edit: Just to clarify, I’m talking about people who actually got sponsored or found funding to get a seat. I don’t mean guys who just decided to pay out of pocket to go racing after spending time on the sim.
