Pregnancy & PCOS

Hi! I was diagnosed with PCOS over 10 years ago and have been on metformin ever since. I am pregnant and at my first appointment the OBGYN said she wants me to stop it and take a gestational diabetes test already. And after not returning to take it.

Has anyone experienced this before? I am fearful that without the metformin my weight gain will sky rocket

Spinal Fusion & Pregnancy

Hey! I’m looking to connect with other people who have had a spinal fusion and carried/delivered a baby. I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant and had my first ultrasound yesterday — everything looked good, thank God. ❤️

However, when I told the OB that I have a spinal fusion, she looked at me like I had three heads, like she had never encountered someone who was 34, pregnant, and had a fusion before. It honestly made me feel a little uneasy.

Before I met with the OB, my gyno had mentioned that there would likely be a game plan in place (possibly something like a planned C-section with anesthesia from the waist down), but the OB didn’t exactly make me feel confident or experienced with my situation.

Besides the fact that I need to find a new OB who feels more comfortable managing my condition, I was wondering:

Has anyone here had a spinal fusion and gone on to have a vaginal birth?

Were you able to get an epidural/spinal anesthesia, or did you need a different plan?

Did your fusion affect your pregnancy or delivery in any unexpected ways?

I would really love to hear any experiences or advice. Thanks so much in advance!
