Hi! I recently bought a 2011 macbook pro from a friend for $20, and it does work however it needed a new wifi ribbon cable, and so I was using my phone's USB tethering to connect it to the web, however then I realized that USB tethering worked for only one port and upon further testing the left USB port can only provide power and can't send any actual data. I had to take the macbook apart anyways to repaste and clean it because it was filthy, and while I have it disassembled is there anything I can do to get the USB port fixed? This seems like a solder join issue to me.

A few days ago I bought this t440p thinkpad for just $40, it came with 8 gb of ram, 240 gb sata ssd, and an intel i5-4200M, however I have upgraded it to 16 gb of ram, and an i7-4712MQ, and now it is actually pretty fast. I mainly wanted it because it's like really portable compared to my two other thicc thinkpads, and apart from the clunkpad (replacement coming soon) it's pretty much the perfect small laptop for me!
