Making Progress

Started out walking between light poles in our community park about a month ago.

Yesterday I just felt strong and now dying so ran further than ever.

For context this is 3 miles for 6 laps. Each lap is .5 miles.

Havent ran a mile in more than a decade...Starting to run at 52 ...still have a long way to go.

I guess this is more of a diary entry as noone I know runs or is in decent shape.

Yay to me! Proud of myself

ADVICE NEEDED: When to use C25k and Strava

Hi all. I have been doing a walk/run for a month now....3 miles and 6 laps around so .5 miles per lap. I typically run pole to pole and progressed from walking run pole and running one to running 5 poles and walking 2 poles. We'll this morning I ran one lap or .5 miles without stopping and went back to 5/2.

Looking for advice: Should I keep up with the walk/run split or get the C2k app and/or get strava? Or, just keep doing what Im doing?

First time runner and its so much information out there. Im confused.

Hope to hear from actual runners and not theorists

Been walk/run 3 miles every other day for about 3 weeks now. I am getting stronger in CV health every run it feels. Today I ran wayyyy more than I walked. Its 6 loops to make 3 miles. I ran the 1st loop in its entirety then alternated to a short walk when I felt winded. That amounted to 1 short walk per loop still running most of it.

Felt proud until I look at the time. Its LONGER then when I was walk/running last week!!

That was discouraging. A friend told me to stop taking myself and focus on running and less walking growing slowly weekly. I might just stop with the stop watch as it does make sense....a bit. Im type A so..yeah this pisses me off...

Venting...but wanted to hear from some experienced runners and beginners.

SN: Im 52 and running really for the first time since high school. Was a bodybuilder so focusing on CV fitness and increasing health/life span.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
