Endoscopy worth it for GI issues?
Hello!
My dog has been dealing with GI issues since I adopted her last October. After several months of vet visits with no answers, I finally got a diagnosis of hookworms at the end of January, and once treatment was complete her symptoms completely went away for about a month. She has had two negative hookworm tests and also been tested for other parasites all negative.
Now her symptoms are mainly bilious vomiting with a gurgly tummy. I’m already feeding her four meals a day with snacks in between so she doesn’t go more than four hours without eating even overnight. She is also on metoclopramide and Prilosec which was working but seems to be iffy now.
So far We ran blood tests a d Everything was normal also have done x-rays and everything looks normal. Now her internal medicine specialists is recommending an endoscopy of the upper and lower DI with a biopsy to test for IBD. They quoted me $4000 for this so I’m wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences and if it was worth it to get the endoscopy or if you were able to treat without it?
