1 month unpaid salary in UAE, filed MOHRE complaint, resigning immediately — should I leave the country now?

Hi folks,

I already filed a complaint with MOHRE through their app last May 16, 2026. Due to the constant stress, instability, and unprofessionalism within the company — particularly regarding the lack of response to my salary concerns — I have decided to resign effective immediately on May 18, 2026, without serving a notice period.

I am also planning to book my flight back to my home country on May 28 to take a break and reassess my career path. As a female Mechanical Engineer with less than five years of experience, I’ve found it difficult to secure opportunities here in the UAE despite actively applying for jobs. In addition, I would like to transition away from Sales, as it no longer aligns with my long-term career goals, and instead return to construction or project management roles.

I already consulted MOHRE regarding my resignation without notice, and they confirmed that I am allowed to do so since the company has violated Article 45 of the UAE Labour Law. The company also failed to provide medical insurance.

Since I am currently paying monthly rent and do not want to further deplete my savings, I am considering leaving the UAE permanently. However, I am still hesitant about whether I should wait for the case to be resolved while continuing to search for another job here, or return to my home country and wait for the case to progress remotely.

Hello mga Kabayan! May 1 yr and 7 months na po akong experience dito sa UAE as Sales Engineer but I am looking for transition as Project/site engineer as I really dont want to be in sales anymore.

Any referrals would gladly help as I wanted to go back where I am really happy and passionate about.

P.s. already looking in linkedin, indeed, naukrigulf, bayt and google jobs too.

Thanks po!
