I built a website to help you bundle shipping and save money on eBay

The basic idea is that eBay doesn't have a great way to search for multiple issues and find them from the same sellers, so too often you're left either paying $8 shipping each on a few separate $2 books, or spending a ton of time digging through each seller's inventory to try and find one you can bundle shipping with.

So I built an app that would do it for me. Originally I just fed it a spreadsheet with a list of what I was looking for and it would spit out a new spreadsheet with a list of sellers sorted by how many of my want list they had. It worked well enough so I decided to turn it into a website for others to use.

Basically you just type in what you're looking for, click the button, and it will generate a list of sellers, ranked by how many issues they have, with all of their listings for each item, the price and shipping for each item, and a link to the listing. Some sellers have different shipping policies so you still have to confirm they'll combine shipping for you, but this should at least help you avoid paying shipping on each individual book you're looking for.

New features worth mentioning:

  • File upload: If you use League of Comic Geeks or CLZ to manage your collection, you can now upload your exported want list to save you typing or copy/pasting everything. You can also just upload a basic .txt/csv/xlsx file with one issue per line. This is done client-side so no privacy concerns.
  • Gap analyzer: Similar to the above, you can upload your exported collection list (or a basic .txt/csv/xlsx file) and the site will generate a search list based on what you're missing. It only works between two issues, so if you've got the first hundred issues of ASM, it won't go looking for the rest of them, but it will help you fill any random gaps you have. This is also done client-side so no privacy concerns.
  • Single-issue searching: Some folks wanted to be able to find multiple copies of a single issue. This is now possible, provided the seller has separate listings for each copy (some sellers use one listing with a quantity dropdown menu, I'm working on getting the search to find this correctly).
  • Save and email results: Found a great set of listings? You can now save your results as a shareable link or email them directly to yourself (your email is only used for this purpose).
  • Series pages: Just starting out collecting and don't have a want list yet (or your want list is just "everything")? I've created dedicated pages for Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1, X-Men Vol. 1, and Daredevil Vol. 1, containing all issues of each series, broken into batches. Results are refreshed daily.

I built a website to help you get cheaper shipping on eBay (lots of updates!)

First, thanks for all the great feedback I got when I posted this a couple weeks ago. Glad to see people are using the site and getting some use out of it!

Too often, I'm trying to fill some gaps in a run and I need just a few random issues that can easily be found for a few dollars at most. Maybe I need five issues and I can find each of them for two or three dollars on eBay. But the search results keep showing me different sellers who all want to charge $8 shipping on a $2 book. Most of them offer to bundle shipping, but it's a pain in the ass to search for one book, find a seller that has it, and then search through their inventory to see if they have any of the other four I need, and then do that over and over until I find someone who does.

So I built an app that would do it for me. Originally I just fed it a spreadsheet with a list of what I was looking for and it would spit out a new spreadsheet with a list of sellers sorted by how many of my want list they had. It worked well enough so I decided to turn it into a website for others to use.

Basically you just type in what you're looking for, e.g.:

> Batgirl: Year One #2

>Black Widow #10 (2014)

> Batgirl: Year One #3

> Batman / Huntress: Cry for Blood #2

> All-New Wolverine 5

Click the button, and it will generate a list of sellers with all of their listings for each item, the price and shipping for each item, any promos they might be running, and a link to the listing. Some sellers have different shipping policies so you still have to confirm they'll combine shipping for you and jump through whatever hoops they have, but this should at least help you avoid paying shipping on each individual book you're looking for.
