Shipping Protection Scam

Per title - anyone else had shipping protection snuck in during checkout? I placed an order on PSA’s site and specifically unchecked “shipping protection” in my cart. When I went to check out the total looked correct but after the item shipped I checked my receipt and a ~$10 charge for “shipping protection” was added. Pretty scummy since you’d have to expand the cart to see this charge added. The gun is at my FFL now and will cost me $50 to return ship it from them, so kinda SOL here. PSA said they can’t alter orders unless they’re cancelled or RMA’d, which is obviously untrue since they can do blem credits and other sale adjustments.

PSA - why do you even offer this scam? It’s your responsibility to deliver merchandise to the consumer in the correct condition - full stop. Especially serialized items which have criminal charges involved for theft. I can understand the use case for porch pirate prone areas where PSA would NOT be responsible for theft - but why is it the default and why is it available for serialized items?

PSA is a great company with a great mission and it sucks that such a minute detail makes you look like money grubbing scammers.
