Thoughts on construction?

Thoughts on construction?

I really want to make my own version of this jacket from w consept, but i am struggling to find a pattern I like that has the same elements with the button placket and collar. I have also never sewn a jacket before, so I don't know how to construct these elements myself. Does anybody either know of a pattern that I could use, or know what types of seams/techniques are used to attach the collar that way that overlaps with the placket? And how to get the 3 lines of stitching? I think maybe the placket and collar are sewn two pieces together, but then i don't know how to attach them:P I want to basically make a dupe even in the little details:P

worth the hassle?

I really want a ribber attatchment for my sk700, but they are super expensive where i live, both new and used. Someone is selling this old Knittax with a ribber for 18 euros + shipping. It seems to be in a somewhat bad state, but i have never tried to fix a machine before so I am wondering if it would be a lot of work and hassle to get it working?

Any wax holder tips?

Does anybody have any tips on how to wax the yarn while knitting on the machine? Until now I have waxed it while winding it up to cakes by holding the wax in my hand, but I am getting a little bit tired of that..! I have the SK700 which doesn't come with a wax holder.

Any tips?

Does anybody have any tips for my problem..? I made a punchcard where I'm using black as contrast colour. The problem is that i want to start the knitting with just black for the edging and ribbing. I tried to start the patterning with black as main colour on the first row where you "catch" the pattern, and then switch it to contrasting colour and adding the main colour on the second row. In my brain that should have worked, but the knitting got all messed up. Any tips on how to solve this?

Help with punch card designing

I am currently converting a hand knitting fair isle pattern to a punch card pattern. It is my first time ever making (and knitting with) a punch card pattern. I have managed to change the pattern to fit the 24 stitch width, but I am now confused on how it will work height wise. The pattern is a looping pattern that repeats for the whole sweater. Does it have to match perfectly with the height of the punch card like it does width-wise? The pattern is 58 rows, what do i do with the 2 "extra" rows that are left on the punch card? And how do the two rows with holes on the top and bottom work?? Are they a part of the pattern??

yarn snapping on toe shaping

I am making my first ever garment on a knitting machine, a sock! It was going great until the short row shaping for the toes. For some reason the carriage got stuck and made the yarn snap three different times in the same area when i was nearly finished with the first inwards shaping. It was always on the first few stitches when i was taking the carriage from right to left, and it snapped more and more rapidly the further i got in the shaping i noticed. I managed to fix it, and when i was to shape the toe back again outwards, there was no problem at all. Does anybody know why this may have happened and how to avoid it? I am using a sk700.

Is the plastic strip crucial?

I accidentally threw away the long plastic strip with the numbers on that goes at the front of the needle bed on my sk700. Is it crucial? I just realised that the needles now rest and glide purely on the metal which may not be so good? I haven't taken out the trash yet but i really don't want to dig it up!!
