I got accepted into the Imagineering internship years ago and was forced to decline. What can I do now?

My high school has a program where seniors apply to some sort of internship as part of our keystone project. My friend and I both were accepted into the Imagineering internship through a competition, but I had to reject the offer because I failed one of my classes. It tore me up and since then, I've tried community college and online courses but am having difficulty with any academic work. I know I'm smart enough and creative enough for design work, but traditional academia is rough.

What can I do from here? I would love to be an imagineer, but that feels impossible now. And most engineering positions won't take a meritless hire.

my review of pho cow cali...

Wish I remembered to take photos, but I still wanted to write about my experience!! i havent really had vietnamese food since leaving orange county, so im very excited to talk about this.

i went by myself in the morning. because its the first week, theres still lines waiting outside before 9am. even then, it wasnt hard for me to get a seat.

some things i noticed about the menu:

if you havent been to pho cow cali, they do serve more than just pho. they also offer com tam (broken rice dish with various sides like grilled pork, fried egg, egg rolls, etc) and bun vermicelli dishes, including bun bo hue (spicy beef soup). unfortunately, the drinks menu is mostly pepsi products like pure leaf. i was hoping to get a fresh made iced green tea or a pickled plum soda, but they do have everybody'a favorite: vietnamese coffee. i understand why they wouldnt have such drinks, but i still hoped for at least some tea.

onto the service:

since many of the staff are newly trained, im giving some grace. i think with experience they will get more used to working there and learn more. when i asked about getting a side of chili oil, one of the employees thought the chili sauce on the table was the same thing, and there was also some difficulty getting it since it came out after i already got my bowl. but, like i said: i think the younger staff will grow more experienced and it wont be as much of an issue.

finally, the food:

i ordered pho tai chin. at this restaurant, the raw beef comes already placed in the bowl, which was good with me, and there was lots of well done brisket to make it very protein heavy. i also got a side of chili oil and a plate of sliced onions, both of which came with no extra charge. the vegetables looked fresh, and most importantly, i only waited about 3-4 minutes for my food. the broth itself tastes a bit different than what im used to (i think they added more star anise?), but it was still deliciously warm. the noodles were a bit stiff when it came to me, but after mixing all of my sauces and veggies together, it didn't matter. they were the perfect texture, soft with a slight chew.

overall:

im definitely coming by here more often. i plan on ordering a bun thit nuong next, because its one of the dishes i missed eating a lot back at home. the price is still a lot for a college campus, so even though i plan on coming back, this is probably going to be a once every other week thing. (if i remember right, even appetizers sit around 8 dollars.) if they do more promotions in the future, such as with the vietnamese student body or some of the asian american groups on campus, i would be more inclined to come back for those days.

To the couple hooking up at Nobel drive...

it is really obvious that you're having sex in your car when it is broad daylight and you don't even have window tint. out of all the empty parking lots out there, you chose the one that people drive through constantly in order to get a good parking spot? Not to mention where you park. your car isn't even inconspicuous in any way. you are literally in the middle of the building where everyone will look at you as they are passing by.

About 40 cars who parked outside of the transit parking lot were just subjected to 4 tow trucks coming in and out of the parking structure. Not only did the Cubs win, theres going to be a ton of people visiting the impound lot today...

its definitely not just midterms, because monday at 9am there was actually a decent number of spots still, nobody in the retail area. (normally its full by 8am)

but when i came back to my car by 5pm, there was a whole line of cars in the retail spots. and its the same thing today at 12pm, except its so bad that its actually taking up a whole retail floor. there was at least 7 cars hovering around the transit parking, too. older folks and their families.

is there an event nearby? or are people so dedicated to the padres that they actually park this far out?
