Around december last year, I made a booking through booking.com for a holiday (3 weeks) this year. Yesterday, to my surprise, I received a message regarding the booking of my accommodation. The host had to cancel because the accommodation is "temporary and/or permanently unavailable". I escalated this to the customer support immediately (as I have sees as a tip throughout this reddit). Now I got the message back that booking accepted the cancellation from the host and the customer support is not able to help me any further. There is no help regarding relocation, there is no compensation - because I have to book a new accommodation for at least double the price.

To my even greater surprise, I see the exact same accommodation with the exact same dates - now being offered again for a multiple of the price!

Is this normal for booking.com (the lack of customer support, no help regarding relocation to another accommodation - or even offering the possibility of any help)?
