Essix retainer cracked between 7–8 but still fits — how urgent is replacement?
Hi, my clear Essix retainer has a small crack between tooth 7 and 8 (more on the upper part of the plastic, it does not go all the way down).
The retainer seems to be stable on my teeth, i just noticed it by accident. Its not like it became loose and i noticed it because of that.
The issue is: I currently cannot afford a replacement right now, so I’m trying to understand how urgent this really is.
I will get a replacement in 2-3 months but if it would destroy my teeth i would figure out something sooner.
Is it still safe to wear it for a while as long as it fits normally, or does a crack like this usually mean it can fail quickly and cause tooth movement?
Edit. So i took another look. And it seems like the crack does NOT touch the teeth part at all. It stops right there where teeth begin. Its on the skin part only. And stops right before teeth
