Soon to be a widow. 29 years in and never imagined I'd soon call myself single. It is a sudden terminal diagnosis. Between the medical bills and insurance denials, I'm hearing that I'll owe more in federal taxes (filing single), owe more for car insurance (single risk factor + no longer a multi line discount). Needing to keep cell phone active to access accounts for a bit (adding costs with less income). Racing against the clock to get things in order. What did you find out would change that surprised you?
