Don’t misgender your interviewers
Interviewed someone who was a decent fit for the role in question. I’m trans and this person would be working very closely with me as a dotted-line subordinate (likely would begin reporting to me in 6mo or so). Interview was stiff but fine, and when I was done, it was my colleague’s turn.
Well, after I left, the candidate made a snide remark about me to my colleague and misgendered me a few times.
I don’t really care how you feel about me. I’m confident in myself and don’t need external validation, and you’re entitled to whatever mean feelings you like. But if you’re out of work right now and interviewing, maybe don’t talk shit about the people interviewing you before you’re even hired.
We cut her from the pool so fast after that.
