Passport timelines
If anyone is traveling and needs their PP renewed, try applying at least 6 weeks prior to travel. Here is our story. Traveling overseas in mid-Jun. Received the passports for both my kids yesterday. Really smooth and efficient process. The newgen passports are slick.
Applied in person - Apr 17th (at a local post office)
Received for processing - Apr 20th (went to NH I think based on the locator # 2 digits 46)
In process status update - Apr 20th
No change in status until May 7th
Approved and Passport being printed - May 8th
Shipped - May 8th (USPS priority with tracking) shipped from AZ
Received - May 11th (in just about 3 weeks)
Funny thing was USPS informed delivery had let me know to expect two packages from US Passport Services/HQ before the passport status updated online. Did not pay for expedited service or expedited shipping. Photos from Staples. Hope this helps others.
