I think it adds character but could just be me.

Hi, this is probably a really silly question that I feel should be an obvious answer but getting slightly paranoid.
I have a UK passport that was issued in November 2017, due to expire November 2027.
I am planning to travel to Germany next week, figured this passport would be fine… however a lot of advice and travel info I’m being provided states:
“Your passport must:
have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive - if you renewed your passport before 1st October 2018, it might have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago, making it invalid for entry to the Schengen area”l
have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area (the expiry date does not need to be within 10 years of the date of issue)”
Now, basic maths, I’m working out that 10 years ago would be May 2016, so the fact my passport has an issue date of November 2017, I’m fine, right?
I’m just a little confused about the mention of 10 years, then “before 1st October 2018”… I can’t grasp why 2018 is referenced and the fact mine is before 2018 is making me paranoid.
Put my mind at ease. I’m fine, right?
Thank you!
my passport is gonna expire in 2027 and i wanna get it renewed now. In my renewal, do i use the DOB on the passport or should update with my real DOB? It's literally one day of 07/07 instead of 07/06. Will they make me fill out that fuck ass correction form? I feel like I should put the correct DOB b/c they asked for my social, so they'll see the correct one right?
I went to Walgreens to have my 7 month olds passport photo taken, however, the person who took them wasn’t too sure if it would be accepted.
UPDATE: Thanks so much for all the help! I ended up going back to Walgreens to get a refund so I can take the photos myself.
I am American. My first name on my birth certificate is Sarah, on most of my forms of identity its spelled Sara, including my current passport and drivers license. How do I get a new passport with my birth name Sarah? I have 3 expired passports, one has Sarah the two newer ones have Sara. My current passport is not expired. Is it a simple renew?
Hope this is helpful to someone. I'm really surprised by how fast USPS was. It took them less than 28 hours from accepting the package in AZ and delivering it to me in NY without rush delivery.
- 5/5 Submitted application at USPS
- 5/8 Application in process
- 5/11 Check cashed
- 5/18 Approved, ETA 5/24
- 5/19 USPS Informed Delivery: arrived at USPS distribution center, ETA 5/22
- 5/20 Delivered
(?) because I don’t think it’s ink… I think it’s color from the cover? Or something? It wasn’t in contact with a pen, but it looks kind of “inky”
A couple days ago I was running late for an appointment and didn’t tighten my water bottle all the way. It leaked in my bag and my passport got damp. Yes I know it was stupid to have in my bag when I didn’t need it in there!
I’m traveling to Sweden early July, this will be my first time using it. At first my main concern was the RFID chip, but the readID app was able to read it, and the plastic ID information page has no damage. The only visible damage that’s left is this small spot at the top front cover. There outside looks fine with no damage and pages are not very wavy, and I have lots of heavy books to make it flat again where it’s bending.
I think i might be over reacting but I wanted to see what others think 😩
I’m planning to book a flight from the U.S. to Bali and I’m trying to decide if I should renew my passport or not. When I look this question up online, I’m told that my passport has to be valid six months after my arrival date. My passport is currently valid until January 12, 2027, and I'm planning to book a flight to arrive in Bali on July 9, 2026, so technically it would be six months, but I am nervous if I’m cutting it close/if they’ll turn me away at the airport.
I’m also worried that if I try to renew my passport that I'm not gonna get my new one in time. While looking into it online, I saw that if I get my passport expedited through the normal website that would be $130 for the passport + $60 for it expedited, and then it would take 2 to 3 weeks for them to complete it and then 2 weeks to get back to me. Or if I pay for one of the other expedited services, it would be around $400 (which I would prefer not to pay).
Any thoughts/help on this are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
So I keep trying to print my application but it’s not adding the divider/box lines. Is this still acceptable?
Hello! Hoping you knowledgeable people can help me out.
I’m normally very responsible with my documents, which is why I wasn’t worried about having my passport for my upcoming trip. Lo and behold, it has vanished into thin air and I’m flying out on June 11th.
I was able to make an appointment for today to apply at the post office, and I would obviously do expedited processing and shipping. But it seems like I’m right on the cusp of when they recommend just waiting until you’re 14 days out and making an urgent appointment at a passport agency. I live very close to a regional agency, so this wouldn’t be inconvenient.
What would you do in my situation? Apply today at my appointment or wait until I’m 14 days out? Thanks for your input!!
ETA: Thanks everyone! I looked at my regional agency today and it looks like they have ample appointments available, so I’m just going to wait until 14 days out. Seems like it may be the fastest way at this point and it’s only 15 minutes from my house. Appreciate your thoughts!
Simple renewal, I go to Norway for months every summer and it would have expired too close to my leave date. I called the number provided and they can’t tell me what the “additional information” was that they need. This is my first time doing an online renewal and I did not see an instruction to send in my old passport? Is that what it could possibly be? Thanks!
When I moved out of my parents house 6 years ago, my mom demanded she keep my US passport book "just in case" and I'd keep my passport card. Surprise surprise, I have international travel plans in September and she lost my passport. I don't have possession of my birth certificate, a replacement birth certificate has been ordered, but in the meantime, if I go to apply for a new passport book, would my passport card be accepted as proof of citizenship? Online it says "passport" is accepted but it doesn't specify if it's just the book or both the book and card. I'm nervous sweating over here!
I just applied for my passport and I gave the wrong address by mistake we shifted place this year and I gave the address of my new place but in my adhar card and all documents address is of old place. How can it be fixed and is it a major problem?

Hi everyone,
I recently received an adverse police verification letter for my passport application. The reason mentioned is:
“Applicant maintained wrong birth place.”
Here’s my situation:
My passport application was submitted using a birth certificate showing Dehradun as my birth place.
During police verification, I mentioned/was made to write Chamoli Garhwal because that is where i was born though but i was born in house not hospital so there is no birth place certificate so when i shifted to doon later my parents made a birth place certificate of dehradun showing i was born here
Now the passport file is under review at the Regional Passport Office.
Should i make another birth certificate/document related to Chamoli.
I’m confused about:
Which birth place I should maintain now.
Whether I should submit the second birth certificate.
If this can be resolved through clarification at the RPO.
Whether anyone else faced a similar issue and got passport clearance later.
thanks
Is my passport to damaged to fly uk? My holiday is in 18 days help. The biometric chip scans.
I’ve looked around and everything I’ve seen has said, as it was issued when I was sixteen and has a ten year expiration date rather than a five year, it’s valid. However, my father called the local post office to ask, and the worker said that turning 18 means you need an entirely new passport! That contradicts the info online, but we’re all worried now that I’ll need a new one. What’s the answer here?
I'm looking to get my passport book updated with my new name before the 1 year since issue deadline passes. I believe I need to use DS-5504 for that. But I also want to get a passport card in addition to the updated book. Is there a way to do both in one transaction?
We submitted the application for the passport for my new born on May 7 and the application changed today; May 19 to: In progress but the locator is 46... I'm in Chicago... Why? :(
We pay for the expedited and the 2-3 shipping days...
My flight is on June 9 🫠🫠🫠🫠😭😭😭🥲🥲🥲
Can anyone advise if this passport will be accepted? It's been slightly damaged on the front page, however everything else is perfect. It's literally only a week old but got stuck in a drawer and scuffed!
what do each of these stickers mean? should i keep all of them on forever? at airports, workers just quickly stick them on without any explanation. i’m very curious! thank you in advance!
