2029 Hall of Fame class could feature three elite 2010s guards

Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, and Kyle Lowry could headline the 2029 Hall of Fame class following their 2026 retirements. Representing a golden age for point guards, their combined resumes include an MVP trophy, legendary assist totals, and NBA titles, highlighting three distinct and dominant styles of play.

The 2029 Basketball Hall of Fame class could feature a remarkable reunion of three guards who helped define the NBA throughout the 2010s.

Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul and Kyle Lowry all ended their playing careers in 2026. With the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame having reduced its waiting period to two full seasons out of the game, the trio could become eligible for the Class of 2029.

Westbrook became the latest of the three to walk away, announcing his retirement after 18 NBA seasons. The former Oklahoma City Thunder superstar leaves as the NBA's all-time triple-double leader with 209, while ranking fifth in career assists and 14th in points.

His peak came during the 2016-17 season, when Westbrook won MVP after averaging a triple-double and setting the then-single-season record with 42 triple-doubles. He ultimately averaged a triple-double four times and finished his career with nine All-Star selections.

Paul's resume could make him another obvious first-ballot candidate. The "Point God" retired in February after 21 seasons as a 12-time All-Star and finished second in NBA history in both assists and steals.

While Westbrook overwhelmed opponents with athleticism and relentless attacking, Paul became one of his generation's defining traditional point guards through his pick-and-roll mastery, playmaking, mid-range shooting and control of games.

He also reached the NBA Finals with the Phoenix Suns in 2021, although a championship remained one of the few accomplishments missing from his career.

Lowry's case is built around a different type of legacy. The six-time All-Star retired as a Toronto Raptor in July following 20 NBA seasons, with his defining achievement coming as the starting point guard of Toronto's 2019 championship team. He was also an All-NBA selection and won Olympic gold with Team USA in 2016.

The three guards frequently occupied the same All-Star landscape during the 2010s. Westbrook and Paul were among the Western Conference's premier guards, while Lowry became one of the East's most consistent stars during his peak years in Toronto.

Their careers also reflected three very different interpretations of the point guard position: Paul's precision and control, Westbrook's historic statistical production and explosiveness, and Lowry's combination of leadership, defense and winning basketball.

If all three are selected when they first become eligible, the 2029 Hall of Fame ceremony could become a celebration of one of the deepest point-guard eras in NBA history.

What does “mutual following” mean on facebook, and why are they following my page?

I have a small NBA page on Facebook with about 2.5K followers. I mainly translate NBA news from English into another language, and I also follow several other media pages.

Does that mean they’re actually follow me back? If so, why would they follow a small NBA page like mine? It just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Queen Violet is leaving West Hollywood after 5 years.

This restaurant was discussed on Reddit last week. It is closing and relocating at the end of this month.

https://www.reddit.com/r/WestHollywood/comments/1vk7fro/this_restaurant_is_is_real_trouble/

The popular Asian fusion restaurant at 8543 Santa Monica Blvd. has announced that Aug. 31 will be its final day of business. They first opened their doors in the fall of 2021.

A sign posted at the restaurant thanks customers for sticking with Queen Violet through the years and hints that the closure will bring a new beginning.

“To Our Queen Violet Family,” the sign reads. “Thank you for your love and support over the past 5+ years. We’re so grateful to have you with us as we begin our new journey.”

That new journey already has a name: BKK TABLE.

The restaurant directs customers to its new location at 8101 1/2 Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles, where the business is continuing under the new name. BKK TABLE is also available for delivery through Uber Eats and DoorDash.

It remains unclear exactly why Queen Violet is closing its West Hollywood location. The restaurant was previously put on the market, with the 2,600-square-foot space listed for sale in January 2025. The listing offered a glimpse at what made the location attractive to potential new operators.

The second-generation restaurant space includes roughly 1,300 square feet of interior space and another 1,300 square feet of courtyard seating. Its French colonial-inspired design and outdoor patio gave Queen Violet a distinctive presence along Santa Monica Boulevard.

The restaurant is also surrounded by some of the city’s biggest names in retail, fitness and food, sitting across from Erewhon, Shake Shack and John Reed Fitness.

The previous listing advertised an asking price of $255,000, a Type 41 beer-and-wine license and a monthly rental rate of $13,000. The space was described as fully built out and ready for another restaurant or retail operator, with permitted hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Whether the closure is related to the property being marketed for sale or sublease remains unknown.

Aug. 31 is the last day.

Tony Jaa reveals he is cancer-free after battling stage 3 bile duct cancer

Thai action star Tony Jaa has revealed that he has completed treatment for stage 3 bile duct cancer and currently has no detectable cancerous tissue.

Jaa said he first noticed something was wrong after returning from filming in China a couple years ago. His eyes and skin had turned yellow, he had lost a lot of weight, experienced abdominal discomfort, and his urine became very dark, almost tea-colored.

Doctors discovered a tumor around his bile duct. After further testing, he was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, which had spread to 26 areas involving his bile duct and liver.

He underwent major surgery that lasted around 8 hours, with doctors removing the affected areas. He then went through radiation and chemotherapy. The entire treatment and recovery process took around 18 months.

“It was the most serious illness I’ve ever experienced. I spent 8 hours in the operating room, and I never expected something like this to happen.

Jaa said he kept his illness private during treatment because he didn't want his family, friends, or fans to worry.

He also lost a significant amount of weight and muscle during treatment. Now that the cancer treatment is finished, he is focusing on protein, proper nutrition, physical therapy, and exercise to rebuild his muscle mass and strength.

Doctors have told him that there is currently no cancerous tissue remaining, but he will continue regular follow-ups and monitoring.

“It feels like I died and was born again. Everything that was bad is behind me. I consider this a new beginning.”

He is now preparing for his return to action movies. His stunt team has already started working with him again, and he says he is putting together new projects with international actors and stunt performers.

“The action-movie world has been quiet. There aren’t many action films anymore. I want to come back.”

If I remove an authorized user from my credit card, will it affect their credit score?

I have a family member who is currently an authorized user on my credit card. I am considering removing them from the account because they already have 2 other credit cards.

Will removing them as an authorized user cause their credit score to drop? I want to make sure this change will not negatively affect their credit.

Hero civilian who fired back at In-N-Out shooter trained in self defense after witnessing another mass shooting

The good Samaritan being hailed as a “hero” for firing upon Idaho In-N-Out gunman Chad Williams in the middle of his deadly drive-thru rampage had trained for such a moment for years after witnessing another mass shooting.

Jordan Salinas, 35, a healthcare worker and the full-time caregiver of his brother, who uses a wheelchair, had been horseback riding with his girlfriend the morning of the shooting when the couple pulled into the Twin Falls In-N-Out location for lunch and immediately noticed something amiss.

A large crowd of people was rushing through the exit doors of the restaurant, which he assumed was due to a kitchen fire until he heard the unmistakable pop of gunfire.

Operating on pure instinct, Salinas sprinted toward the sound of the gunfire – a response he’d later refer to as “automatic” and “mechanical,” he told the Idaho Statesman.

He drew his FN Five-Seven – a semiautomatic pistol equipped with a suppressor – and engaged Williams using the military’s four-step “Observe, Orient, Decide Act” approach.

Salinas exited the car with his gun drawn as his girlfriend called out to him, at which point the gunfire started up again.

Video shows him slowly making his way toward the restaurant, taking cover behind In-N-Out signs and shrubs.

From his hidden vantage point, he spotted Williams standing by the drive-thru and saw him raise a rifle to his shoulder and start firing toward vehicles.

“OK, this is the guy,” he later told the outlet was his thought process upon seeing the gunman.

He raised his pistol with both hands and squeezed off a round – the first time he ever aimed his weapon at a living target, he said.

“He did not like it when bullets started firing both ways,” Salinas told the outlet.

Williams was now taking return fire from him, and an off-duty cop who was a customer at the restaurant, Twin Falls County Sheriff Jack Johnson said.

He vacated the drive-thru and made his way toward an open parking lot at the Twin Falls visitor center. Police said he later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Three people were killed and seven others were wounded in the In-N-Out shooting, but police said the death toll would have undoubtedly been higher without the quick-thinking actions of Salinas and the off-duty cop

“These people are true heroes in our community,” Johnson said of the two men who returned fire. “They diverted the shooter and without a doubt saved many lives.”

Salinas later stood down to let police officers do their job as they streamed into the parking lot.

“My part is done,” he recalled thinking at the time.

He later said when he witnessed the 2021 mass shooting at the Boise Towne Square mall, in which two people were killed and several more were wounded, he noticed gunmen deliberately went after “soft targets.”

The hero civilian reasoned that his role as a healthcare provider for his wheelchair-bound brother would make the duo sitting ducks in such a scenario.

Salinas later posted on his Facebook page about the barrage of messages he’s received in the “overwhelming” 24 hours since he was identified as the Good Samaritan.

“I want to sincerely thank my family, friends, and everyone who has reached out with messages, prayers, and support. I haven’t been able to respond to everyone yet, but please know I’ve seen your messages, and they mean more to me than I can put into words,” he wrote.

“In the coming days, I’ll share a more complete account of what happened, to the best of my recollection, when I’m able,” he promised.

“For now, my heart remains with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by yesterday’s tragedy. Thank you for continuing to keep them in your thoughts and prayers, and thank you all for the incredible support you’ve shown me and my family.”

In a video posted on his feed July 5, he’s seen wearing camouflage in a remote grassland area and firing a rifle beside an off-road vehicle decked out with American flags while touting the Second Amendment.

“Celebrating the 250th as the founding fathers intended… Exercising the inalienable right to a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep [and bear] arms, shall not be infringed.”

GE Enrollment on Arrival at LAX

I'll be traveling to Asia in December and am planning to apply for Global Entry and complete my interview through Enrollment on Arrival when I return to LAX.

I have a few questions:

-Where is the Enrollment on Arrival booth at LAX? Is it before or after customs/baggage claim?

-Will I be able to leave LAX quickly if I complete my interview upon arrival?

-When should I submit my Global Entry application? Should I apply now and hope to receive conditional approval before my trip, is there a recommended timeframe?

Thank you.

17-year-old cancer patient says belongings stolen from UC San Diego hospital room

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 17-year-old San Diego cancer patient says that she was the victim of a theft while she was in surgery for pancreatic cancer.

Kaleena Morquecho told FOX 5/KUSI Monday that her sister, Sahara, was diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 cancer several weeks ago and was undergoing surgery at UC San Diego Health in Hillcrest when her purse with her wallet, jewelry, ID, cash and sentimental photos of her late father inside was stolen.

“We could not find it, we notified hospital staff, and no one really took it serious. They kind of said maybe it got lost in the linens; it’ll turn up. No incident report was filed, and I asked every single day,” Kaleena said. “Finally Thursday, when Sahara was well enough to check her phone, on the Find My app on iPhone, she was able to see that her AirPods were at a residence in Lemon Grove.”

Kaleena said they called the sheriff’s office, which sent a deputy to the residence in Lemon Grove.

“They knocked on the door, and the lady’s car was there, but no answer. We ended up getting her lease agreement — the landlord wanted to help out,” she said.

Kaleena said that when the sheriff’s office looked up the woman’s name, they were able to see that she allegedly had four prior arrests related to theft and burglary.

“We called the hospital, and she does in fact work at the hospital where my sister is,” she said.

In a statement, UC San Diego Health said, “Privacy laws prevent us from commenting on whether any individual is or has been a patient at UC San Diego Health. We also are unable to comment on matters that may involve personnel issues or ongoing investigations. We understand that situations involving a patient’s personal belongings can be deeply upsetting, and we take any concerns regarding the safety and security of patients and visitors very seriously.”

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said the case has been directed to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) for investigation.

Kaleena said that more than anything, her sister is just hoping for the return of her photos of their late father.

“I think that was one of the ways that she coped with the grief. She would look at the pictures, hold them,” she said. “She really misses her dad.”

Kaleena said the theft was shocking.

“You think someone is safe; you think their belongings are safe when they are in a surgery. We are not thinking about, ‘Is someone going to steal from us?’” said Kaleena. “To find out her things got stolen from the house of sick, I think that’s so evil.”

I am shocked that the hospital hired a worker with a prior criminal record. I hope she gets fired and arrested.

Where can I get my car A/C fixed in OKC?

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy auto shop in the Oklahoma City area that can repair the A/C on an older Honda Accord? I also need the fluids checked and topped off (or changed if necessary).

I'm looking for a shop that's honest and reasonably priced. Any recommendations or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Summer Pell Grant cut in half for 6 units?

I talked to the school’s financial aid office today and they said summer students now need 12 units total to be considered full-time for Pell Grants. So if a student only takes 6 units in Summer I, they’d only get half of their Pell unless they also enroll in another 6 units during Summer II.

They said they were notified about this federal change this week.

Has anyone else heard about this? I really hope it’s not true or just some kind of misunderstanding.
