Red bricks triple or north mountain triple

I'm an incoming freshman (meche).. The CENG RLC will be either in red bricks or north mountain.

I have heard north mountain is way better but I feel red bricks isn't that bad ? ( This is what I feel after doing the virtual tour for both ) Can you guys tell how the dorms are in both? I'm super confused. Also do I even get a choice to pick between the two or will we be assigned any of the two

confused on updated housing

Students,

Following the email we sent June 29, we are grateful for and have carefully considered your feedback. We understand that the temporary housing arrangement is unexpected and we are committed to being responsive and flexible to meet your needs to every extent possible.
With that in mind, we have made the following updates to the fall housing plan:
All temporary housing assignments of students slated to live in new housing are being made within Poly Canyon Village (PCV) Double Suites. This is a standard three-bedroom, six-person apartment layout. Every student will have their own bed, dresser, wardrobe and desk. You can view the apartment layout on the University Housing website, Layout D.

Students who selected the PCV apartments with single bedrooms will double together in a bedroom, and the temporarily assigned students from new housing will also be placed in double bedrooms in PCV. University Housing will maintain existing roommate groups by assigning current residents together and placing two students temporarily assigned from Building A together within the apartment.

Impacted students will receive a 50% credit while in temporary housing.

We will work with you to resolve concerns around issues such as health, allergies, or other extenuating circumstances on an individual basis. If these updated arrangements do not meet your needs, please contact University Housing at housing@calpoly.edu, or 805-756-1226.

Thank you again for your patience, flexibility and understanding as we work toward welcoming you back to campus for the fall term.
Sincerely,
University Housing

Tutors / Coaches for Fall Quarter

Where does everyone find their tutors? I'm looking for a discord or reddit channel of different tutoring options and prices. I want one I can connect with, and that has more than one specialty, like psychology and mandarin.

No rooms with 3 beds available left for housing selection?

Hi all, my group of 3 roommates is all incoming freshmen, and none of the buildings on our housing selection form have any rooms with 3 beds left... even the apartment style and quintuples only have 1 or 2 rooms left! We emailed them for what the best course of action is, but have any of y’all had this issue before? We filled out the housing form correctly, and we’re officially a group of 3. I'm confused because even my roommate, whose earliest slot was at 11 am today, had no rooms available. Is there a way to change the RLCs we specified? It’s only showing us rooms for BCSM and CAFES, but atp we’re fine with whatever.

3d printing question?

First, thank you to everyone who gave feedback for my incoming freshman son on the bike situation there, and archery, much appreciated!!

One more question, he also wants to bring his 3d printer, which almost brings a tear to my eye. He really loves that printer. But I would guess there's not room in the dorms for it, and the college has better printers available anyway, right?

Thank you in advance!!

Do you think there will be any doubles left?

My dorm assignment date is the 7th 💔 and I only have one roommate, but we are praying for any double (hoping for yak, but I know that’s already pushing it).

What are the chances there are double rooms left by then?

Also, when you have to choose a triple and you only have one roommate, when do you get assigned your 3rd roommate and find out who they are? Is it purely randomized?

I’m a first-year! Any info will help, thank you!!

Bike, e-bike, e-scooter?

Proud parent here, my son will be there soon as a freshman! He won't have a car, just wondering if he should bring a bike, e-bike, or e-scooter? Any feedback appreciated!!

Also do they have an archery team or club? He's pretty good, but it was only a club at his high-school.

What does "3 lectures, 1 laboratory," mean?

Hi!! I will be a bio major starting this fall, and I was browsing the fall 2026 course offerings/times/etc following the flowchart for my major, just to see what it's looking like. I was noticing that for some courses (BIO 1150 in particular), they all say they are just one day a week, but the description will say "3 lectures, 1 laboratory." What does that mean, and how important is that??

Concerning email I received from housing this evening

Students,
We are excited to welcome you back to Cal Poly and your campus residential experience.
As you may know, Cal Poly is expanding campus housing with the addition of a new residential neighborhood. As we prepare this community for occupancy mid-year, some temporary adjustments will be made to accommodate all students in campus housing.
As part of this plan, two additional students will be temporarily assigned to your apartment.
Beds will be bunked in two bedrooms.

The temporary residents will share one bunked bedroom, and two of you will share the other — most likely B and C.

The other two bedrooms will remain single occupancy.

When the new housing community opens, students in temporary assignments will move to their permanent housing assignment, and your apartment will return to its original occupancy.
All residents of the apartment will receive a credit to their Student Account while temporary assignments are in place. Residents who remain in single rooms will receive $100 per month; residents temporarily sharing a room will receive $200 per month; students in temporary assignments will receive $300 per month.
To learn more, please see the Fall Housing webpage. For support with questions or concerns, please reach out to us housing@calpoly.edu using your Cal Poly email account.
Thank you for your flexibility and support.
Sincerely,
University Housing
Cal Poly

TLDR: Some continuing students in 4 room apartments will have 2 more extra people so 2 of the rooms will become doubles. In our housing agreements, my group of 4 signed up for 4 singles. We will have to pay extra(single room price) for a smaller shared room.

Edit: we signed up for PCV

North Mountain end room size

My roommates and I just committed to a room at the end of the building in NoMo. We’re wondering if the sizes of the end rooms differ from the ones in the middle. Are they the exact same size as the others? We know the window layout is different so we’re trying to figure out how all that differs in terms of actual room size. Does anybody know?

Room selection question

Simple question since I dont want to stress during selection. While we are selecting, do I have to worry about my options that me and my roommate are looking at possibly being snatched up? Or, are those strictly visible to us?

Just trying to be extra prepared for selection.

EDIT: Cal Poly parents facebook has me stressed, they're saying all but red bricks triples are taken? And that housing has released all rooms at once?
