I have $2500 dollars dining dollars left to spend this semester and I don’t know how to spend it. I got first year limited so I figured it wouldn’t be an issue spending that much.
What expensive food places should I go to? Would it be better if I stock up on snacks instead?

If I try to use smokeless umaf to overclock the ram or cpu+gpu boost clock, I get a message to either abandon discard the overclock with no way to dismiss it.
Did anyone have any luck with this?

My ram uses Samsung E-die and my CPU is the AMD hx 375. I’m using smokeless UMAF to overclock. When I set it to run in 2:1 mode my laptop doesnt boot.
I tried changing my FCLK from auto to 1867 at the same time but that also didn’t change anything. I’ve also tried increasing my VSOC to 1.1 but still no boot. I’m able to increase the clock speed in 2:1 mode to 6400 mhz.
This is my first time trying to overclock ram and all the other posts I’ve seen with sodimm ram were able to get it to run in 1:1.
Saw a couple posts asking about ram timings so I decided to try overclocking my ram for the first time.
I used smokeless UMAF to overclock because I have the hx 375 variant.
The ram I had in my omen max was Samsung E die which I didn’t see information about so I just free balled it.
Primary timings
tCL=42
tRCD=40
tRP=40
tRAS=60
CL was unstable at 40 for me.
Secondary timings
tRFC=420
tRFC2=420
tREFI=unchanged
tRFCSB=unchanged
tRRDL=12
tRRDS=6
I ran testmem5 for only 1.5 hours for stability. It passed but you should do it for longer.
These timings are pretty loose because I didn’t want to do a CMOS reset every 10 minutes. There’s probably a lot of wiggle room to tighten up. If you actually know about this stuff then I’d be grateful for advice.
My memory latency went from 102ns to 86ns which isn’t as big of a difference as I was hoping.
When I did a timespy run with a -20 cpu undervolt, +999 mem and +375 core gpu overclock, I saw minimal improvements. I broke the leaderboard WR though so that’s something.
Im also using unleashed mode with the fans set to the lowest setting.
For reference I originally did a windows reset for my old install but I also did a fresh windows reset just to keep things fair. Power settings are the same. No keyboard light. Brightness at 70% and speakers at 20%. No/same background apps running. Up to date drivers for both. Nvidia driver 592.19. Eco mode on omen hub. Same YouTube video.
Using the HP omen max 16 with the hx 375 and 5070 ti
YouTube on normal install: about 12-13w discharge.
Browsing on normal install (random school work so won’t be that accurate): about 10-11w discharge
YouTube on fresh windows install: about 10-11w discharge.
Browsing on fresh windows install: about 8.5-10w discharge.
The most notable thing from uninstalling the NVIDIA app is that the dGPU wakes significantly less while on hybrid mode. I think this is due to some conflict with omen hub. Because of this there are less random 30w discharge spikes.
This improved my battery life by about an hour and a half. It also fixed my cursor stuttering on initial movement. Snappiness in windows feels better but is probably placebo. Omen hub definitely launches faster too.
Used battery health viewer for wattage drain.
The omen 16 with the ai 350 can get 12 hours of battery life
I have the omen max 16 with the hx 375 which should get more right?
For some reason. I’m only getting about 6 hours of battery life while watching YouTube at 50% brightness in IGPU mode with window power saver.
Are there certain drivers I need or something?

Several questions:
I have both UTP-6 and HY206 thermal putties. I also plan on repasting with PTM as soon as I get the laptop tommorow. Since I’m repasting the laptop, I might as well replace the stock putty with a better one. I know Asus uses thin putty so I’m wondering if I should use UTP-6 (thicker) or HY206 (thinner).

I want to replace the ram in my strix g15 and overclock it while I’m at it.
It says incoming students must live on campus for the first 2 years but at the same time they list that there exceptions to this as well such as when you apply for housing exemption.
I’ve got the g16 with the 285h and throttle at about an 85w average while on Cinebench r23. I’m considering going back to Liquid Metal because of it being more conductive than PTM.
How much wattage do you guys get on your CPU before it starts throttling. I wanna see if the swap is even worth doing.
