Laptop Longevity

Bought a new laptop with my own money for the first time at 28 for 1.4, and that too, an insane gaming laptop. Didn't think I could ever bring myself to this point in life to make such huge purchases. Seeing a post before mine inspired me to put this post up. Gonna be doing EMIs for the next 12 months lol sigh.

I got the HP Omen ap0183ax. I want to understand how to maximise the laptop's life. I've been watching stuff on YT and reading things online but everywhere the thoughts and opinions are super conflicting. What I understand so far is to always have it plugged in while gaming is all. Some people say laptops are never supposed to be turned off some people say that that's okay. Idk what to believe and follow. I know that the best case will be that this laptop will start to deteriorate after 4-5 years which is when I'll have to put money into upgrades and maintenance.

What all can I do to get the best out of this laptop while also giving it the best life span?

Bought this Omen for ₹120000. Need some insight!

So my primary purpose for buying this laptop is college work (Mech eng), video editing, gaming, entertainment in general and whatever else arises later. I plan to keep it at least for my entire college life.

I had a budget of 1lakh and was eyeing the ryzen ai 7 350 rtx 5050 variant. Unfortunately I lost a good deal at that price range due to circumstances. That's when I saw this one with better looking specs at 1.2 and somehow convinced my parents to put in the extra amount.

Going overbudget was already making me feel guilty when I came across reviews stating it is a beast performance wise but struggles battery wise. The ryzen 7 variant supposedly has much better battery while this one barely crosses 2 hours of normal browsing (according to redditors).

I feel like I have bought an overpowered device which I might not even utilize fully while compromising on an important factor like battery. It hasn't arrived yet. Should I cancel the order and lose out on the deal? People who have the laptop/have used it, please share your insights. Is the battery life actually really bad?

Wie findet ihr den für den Preis?

Ich habe mir den HP Omen gekauft. Wie findet ihr ihn? War das ein Schnäppchen oder hätte ich doch lieber den 5070 Ti nehmen sollen?

I hate laptops

Yesterday i tried to power on my laptop after it being in my travel bag for a decent while (i made sure to turn it off beforehand), when i took it out, it was decently hot, which kind of scared me a little but i didnt think much of it because its happened before. Well when i turned it on, blank screen, and eventually after like 10 minutes of resetting it, it booted to a grey screen with two options, i clicked the one that said update as the screen told me that continuing could render my laptop unable to boot, after this it booted, but my external monitor wasn’t working and the dgpu was not showing up in the bios.

I looked it up and thought that maybe my laptop needed to update the drivers (im using bazzite linux), i updated the drivers and the laptop, (got plasmad🤦) and the issue still continued, i then went into my bios to see if the settings changed and they did, so i reset my settings to how i had them before.

And the dgpu wasn’t showing up in the bios either, great, i tried forcing it to use discrete mode, the laptop froze on a grey screen with some loading dots.

When i switched it back to hybrid it booted normally (which is extremely weird since most people with this issue cannot even boot at all), and then i just called it quits for the night. If what i think is happening is happening, then i might just have to send my laptop back to omen to get it fixed, since i still have a warranty, but i really don’t want to do this.

Today im going to try to reinstall/update the bios from the hp website, and if that doesn’t work idek anymore. And the crazy thing is, it happened to my brothers laptop as well (my parents bought me and my brother laptops for Christmas), he’s having the same issues i did, but he hasn’t seen the cmos battery error.

I really don’t know what to do anymore and im probably just going to have to get it fixed by hp, so im not gonna open my laptop at all just incase.

Im not sure if this is possible but i would like to know if i can get a refund for my laptop, i assume not but it doesn’t hurt to try, I’ve had it since November 2025 and the warranty is still available because i could build a better pc with the same money that it costed to buy it as well as the pc being more reliable.

Has anyone else experienced this with an HP Victus laptop?

I have an HP Victus (RTX 4050 75W TGP + 13th Gen i5). When I first bought it, the charger/power brick would stay almost cool, even during occasional gaming. Most of the time I used it for normal tasks, and I never noticed it getting hot.

Recently, I've mostly been playing Minecraft, and now the power brick gets really hot. I'm still using the same power extension cord that I've used since day one, so nothing has changed there.

Is this normal, or could there be an issue with the charger or the laptop? Has anyone else with a Victus experienced this?

Here's my extension cord - https://amzn.in/d/05PPpITl

My Omen 16 occasionally gets a blue screen at startup.

My Omen 16 occasionally crashes to a blue screen at startup with a "kernel mode heap corruption" (0x13a) error. This has happened since I bought the PC, though rarely; it usually occurs after a few startups following the execution of the "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" command in the terminal. Additionally, when the Omen 16 goes into sleep mode, the backlight seems to have a mind of its own and sometimes flashes randomly. Also, the latest GeForce Game Ready driver that doesn't cause issues when waking from sleep is version 596.36. Could anyone help me understand why my PC is behaving this way? It has no issues during gaming and performance is good, but the blue screen problem slows down startup (I have already disabled Fast Startup).

My Omen 16 specifications are: Intel Core Ultra 7 255H CPU, 32GB 5600MHz RAM, 2TB SSD, RTX 5070, and a 2.5K 240Hz screen.

HP Struggling to fix broken firmware for top model omen

I have posted this on HP Support a few times and contacted support, so far no fiix for a 5000$ laptop. Many Omen 16 MAX laptops have a bug in the firmware that stops COD Warzone and some other games to fail. Details needed to fix the problem are below, but HP needs to correct it, you can't do it yourself. The result: Failred attestation error as it appears the bios is not consistent and you could be cheating. I'm not, I just have an HP bios that is not working as it shoud.

This is a firmware spec-compliance issue, not a game/software support request — this needs to be routed to firmware engineering.

 Summary
On the OMEN MAX Gaming Laptop 16-ah0xxx, the Insyde BIOS (F.22, 29-04-2026) does not produce a TCG measured-boot event log that matches the actual PCR0 value in the TPM. As a result, Microsoft Azure Attestation (and any application relying on Remote Attestation, e.g. RICOCHET Anti-Cheat) cannot fully attest the platform.

Evidence (Windows 11, Build 26200 — TPM-WMI Event ID 1041, Attestation Readiness Verifier):
- HealthStatus: "Possibly attestable"
- PcrsMatchTcgLog: false
- BitMaskOfPcrMismatches: 1 → PCR0 mismatch
- SoftwarePcrReplayHresult: 0, HardwarePcrReplayHresult: 0 (replay succeeds mechanically; this is a content mismatch, i.e. missing/incorrect PCR0 event logging by firmware)
- EkCertIsAvailable: true, TcgLogFound: true, SecureBootEnabled: true (verifiable from TCG log)
- Bitlocker PCR7 Binding State: Binding Possible

This rules out user configuration: TPM 2.0 (Intel PTT), Secure Boot, UEFI, GPT and PCR7 are all correct. The defect is that the firmware does not measure/log all PCR0 (platform firmware) events into the TCG event log per the TCG PC Client Platform Firmware Profile Specification, so the log replay does not reproduce PCR0.

 System details
- Product: OMEN MAX Gaming Laptop 16-ah0xxx
- SKU: B9EY6EA#ABH
- Baseboard: 8D41
- BIOS: Insyde F.22 (29-04-2026), Embedded Controller 38.46
- CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
- TPM: Intel PTT (INTC), fw 700.19.1005.2175, PC Client 1.04, Spec 1.59
- OS: Windows 11 Home, Build 26200

Please release a BIOS/firmware update for the OMEN MAX 16-ah0xxx (baseboard 8D41) that correctly measures and logs all PCR0 platform-firmware events into the TCG event log per the TCG PC Client Platform Firmware Profile Specification, so that measured-boot replay matches PCR0 and Remote Attestation (MAA) succeeds. Other OEMs have already shipped equivalent fixes for this exact issue.

HP Omen 16 (Ryzen AI 7 350 + RTX 5060 8GB) – Worth buying? Looking for long-term user reviews

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to buy the HP Omen 16 with the following specs:

• AMD Ryzen AI 7 350
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8GB
• 24GB RAM
• 1TB SSD
• 16" 2K 165Hz IPS (400 nits)

Price: ₹1.55 lakh

I'll be using it for the next 5–6 years
- Gaming
- Video editing
- Daily college work

I have a few questions:

  1. What are the biggest pros and cons of this laptop?

  2. How are the thermals during long gaming or coding sessions?

  3. Is the battery good for classes, coding, Chrome, and note-taking?

  4. Are there any common issues (heating, motherboard, BIOS, display, Wi-Fi, hinge, keyboard, etc.)?

  5. How loud are the fans under load?

  6. Any regrets after buying it?

I'd really appreciate honest feedback from owners, especially long-term users. Thanks!

Omen 30l fan issue

After years of owning my omen 30l (rtx 3060ti ryzen 7 5700g), i decided to upgrade my fan setup, only to be left with disappointment!

I decided to add 2 x be quiet silent wings 4 and an arctics p9. Additionally, I reapplied thermal paste.

When booting for the first time, I found that the idle temps were the same as before… 65 degrees. The fan speed had significantly dropped as well - when i attempted to put the fans on “quiet mode” (on the omen app) the bottom fan stopped working.(potentially a voltage issue?).

If anyone knows, is there a way to increase the fan speed/ alter the curve via any softwares- I have done some research but i am not sure as i know omen are notorious restricting pretty much everything . Thank you 🙏
