What Are Your Thoughts on Scott Adkins?

I did a similar post like this last week on Michale Jai White and the response to that post was pretty good (I even got a few suggestions, Blood and Bone was awesome.) so I figured why not do one for the other king of B movie martial arts movies.

So, what are your thoughts on Scott Adkins?

Personally I love his movies. Even his “bad” ones are at the very least enjoyable. The only movie that I can honestly even say that I did not really care for was Close Rang, but even then, I still enjoyed him in that movie.

Heck I even like when he plays the bad guy in movies like in Triple Threat or the Undisputed movies.

I find it odd though, both him and MJW should be bigger than they are. Both have gotten chances to shine in some pretty big movies, yet both are still regulated to rather low budget affairs.

The one thing that I do like about Scott though is that he seems to put his all into every role that he gets (I haven’t seen all of his movies, so maybe there are a few “paycheck” films in his catalog.) Then you’ve got MJW who clearly phones it in in a bunch of roles he gets, granted his good movies are exceptional.

to whoever called the Prodigal Son the gold standard...

You were SPOT ON! I am an old man. I've watched a lot of kung fu movies, but somehow this gem alluded me. No longer. When some Redditor called the movie the gold standard, I took notice. And I can say with absolute certainty the Prodigal Son is by far one of the best kung movies I've ever seen. It easily checks ALL the boxes! I know already I'll be rewatching this one a couple times a year. I don't think it could be any better.

Thank you Reddit, Thank you Kung fu Cinema members. Thank you, dude who said it was the gold standard

The Weird World Of LSD (1967) In terms of unintentional laughs & sheer absurdity, every bit as ridiculous as better known anti-drug films like Reefer Madness - Ever trip so hard you befriended a 2-D Duck or become a kitten?

I finally watched Bloodhounds, what a show!

I started watching it early last week and quickly binged both seasons. AMAZING fights, a nice variety of setups and for a lot of boxers, a nice variety of choreo. I would take a bullet for Woo-Jin or Gum-Woo or Ma. That poor woman has been kidnapped so many times lol I hope next season she gets a bit of a break.

No spoilers but I loved the final battles and as a cyber security person I dig all the hacker stuff, some of it was even legit. lol

What’s your go-to crowd pleaser?

I run a movie night at a cigar shop on So Cal and am always on the hunt for the perfect movies to show. When you are going to pick the movie what is your go-to for one that delivers scene after scene. No long slow parts, no filler.

In the action genre I would say Commando is the ideal candidate for this. It’s not brilliant writing, it’s just a blast. Whether it’s funny ridiculous or awesome basically every scene delivers.

In kung fu films my first thoughts would be the Raid movies or Kung Fu Hustle. But I want some real hidden gems.

What about you? What are your favorite kung fu films to surprise people with on movie night?

Dragons Forever BTS - source?

Hi, does anyone know where this behind the scenes video from Dragons Forever came from? It's not on the blu-ray special features. Did it air on TV?
