Have you ever found a rock?

Not just any rock, a talking rock. One that insults you, offers useless advice, and never quite understands what’s going on?

No? Neither had Jan.

It has been sixteen years since the attack on medieval Kag let a city burn, and short of having to rebuild, not much has changed.

Detective work never came naturally to him. Jan can’t remember a time when he wasn’t Consul to the Archmage. His extraordinary talent landed him a life of luxury, raised by one of the most powerful mages ever to grace their simple world. Jan lazes through work as both an academic and a scribe. Yet when mischief lands him in a hangman’s cell, he finds a name carved into the stone wall and a link to the truth behind their lives. Teaming up with his friend Laura, the two launch an investigation into their weaving world, only to dabble in a little more mystery than they originally devised....

Jan and Laura awaken a power they never knew they had, extraordinary abilities that tear the fabric of the stars.

Forty years into interstellar war, TACTI unit "Sill" can proudly claim nothing; life as a forgotten tool for CORE troops was about as mundane as it gets. That was until it received the honour of serving the greatest Commander to ever live. During the siege of Quail homeworlds, Sill's Autobot systems once directed the fleets of a thousand worlds. Today, long-distance messages to orbit have a return time of 146 years; an army brews on the western continent and monsters roar over the resurgence of a pseudo-Renaissance society. There was, however, only one slight problem.

Well, a lot of problems....... It's hard to fight monsters when your Commander's been brainwashed by local fauna.

Hey!!!! Started posting on RoyalRoad back in 2021, returned with a brand new story in 2025 and just finished book 1 of my most recent series. I thought I would post a breakdown of my current stats and journey if anyone has any advice/while simultaneously using this as self-promo!!

Current Stats:

Total Views :

33,701

Average Views :

733

Followers :

194

Favorites :

51

Ratings :

32

Pages  :

669/184,000 words

Cover Art: rebecacovers on Fiverr, currently have a friend drawing a new cover for me!!!! (Exciting and needed!!)

Review Swaps: (10+): Was used to the 2022 strategy of doing lots of review swaps and wanted to get some feedback. Big mistake, none of them were worth it apart from the fact I met authors for shout-out swaps and read alot of super cool stories (Btw I've got 70+ fiction reviews in total on my account lol so I've reviewed alot...).

Ads: (Ran one singular ad in the very beginning: Clicks 1,477, CTR 0.53%, Follows 21 (3.6%), Read Later 70 (11.99%). Not the best ad on my part LOL

Shout-out swaps: Did at least thirty, made the most followers from swaps I did with a popular authors I met from review swaps/online, definitely worth it, but recommend having a good swap code.

Reddit Posts: (Many...some of you probably recognize me lol, posted on progression fantasy and this subreddit)

Schedule: No schedule, worst mistake, posted whenever I felt like it/had time to write, and often would skip entire months/multiple weeks.

Chapter Length: roughly 2,000-7,000 words

Genre Rising stars for sci-fi was the highest I ever reached LOL

No Patreon or anything else (RoyalRoad just for beta readers/feedback!)

This is the fiction link if anyone is interested in reading:

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/117202/consul-for-the-archmage

My current plan is to repost an edited/more developed version of the story with updated hand-drawn cover art, a flashy title, and a proper MWF schedule over the next two months with the goal of linking interested authors to the less-edited version of the full book!!

If anyone has any advice on what to do next or if they think this is a bad idea lmk!! I'm extremely happy to recieve any feedback possible!!

Thanks so much for your help! :)
