Lighting advice: 2 SANSI T8 25W waterproof tubes vs 4x Barrina T5 for an IKEA Milsbo Tall cabinet?
Hi everyone,
Newbie here :)
I’m currently setting up an IKEA Milsbo Tall cabinet and I’m trying to finalize my lighting setup. I'd really appreciate some advices. Sorry for the probable grammar mistakes, english isn't my first language.
I’m really on the fence between two options:
- Option A: Two SANSI T8 25W Full Spectrum LED tubes (IP54 waterproof rated) with one at the top and one at the middle shelf level.
- Option B: Four Barrina T5 60cm/2ft tubes.
My main hesitation with the Barrina T5s is the lack of waterproofing/IP rating. Since the humidity inside the cabinet will be consistently high, I’m worried about safety, corrosion, or short lifespans with non-waterproof lights.
On the flip side, SANSI's IP54 rating gives me peace of mind, but I want to make sure the light output and heat management are right.
For those running Barrina T5s in high-humidity cabinets, have you experienced any safety or rust issues over time?
Or is the IP54 protection on the SANSI T8 a much smarter move long-term?
Will 2x SANSI 25W tubes provide enough light coverage compared to 4x Barrina T5s for light-hungry plants like Monstera Thai Cons and alocasias?
Should I be concerned about heat buildup with two 25W SANSI tubes in a closed cabinet, or is their ceramic design efficient enough?
I’d love to hear feedback from anyone who has tested either setup (or switched from Barrina to SANSI)!
