still adding plants obviously bc duh, but the cabinet is finally complete! the only thing left to add is another light on the bottom of the top shelf, i just didnt feel like manuvering the cords around earlier lol I'll probably do that tmr. but guys i am so stoked I'm obsessed with her!

also the bowl thats in there rn is not going to stay, i just need somewhere with better lighting to put it rn until i get a different spot ready lol. also the succulents on the small shelf arent going to stay there, planning on getting some small acrylic shelves for the back at the top for them so they can be close to the fan lol

Larger options than Milsbo?

A few of my nepenthes have started getting really wide and are starting to outgrow my milsbo greenhouse. I'm trying to find a larger option (especially something deeper, ideally closer to 20"). Has anyone found or built something larger than that?

All I'm finding online are the greenhouses that have the plastic zip up cover and I'm hoping to find something that looks a little nicer, as this is in my livingroom.

Ikea Milsbo Merging!

Hello. I'm having a hard time finding any information yet I've read random comments before that it has been done. Looking to combine either 2 tall millsboro or 2 wide millsboro together like you would a rudsta. I know it may sound difficult because of how the legs are yet it looks like it has been done. I'm mostly interested in visuals as well as instructions. Thanks yall!

Is this enough light?

Hello everyone! I've had a rudsta ikea canibet green house for some time now :) I don't have much plants and since im still a newbie, some have died ahah. Anyways, I've had since the begging these LED lights I bought off amazon:

https://preview.redd.it/b8sxddth3g2h1.png?width=471&format=png&auto=webp&s=354fafe8a0f3864cf541eefe58db478e8b9ed50f

I have 5 of these those, total os around 300 LED lights. I have an anthurium that almost died but managed to give me 2 leafs after I thought it was dead. But I wonder, is this enough light?

This 2 leafs, only the top crop one managed to become a leaf that doesnt grow for a few days now.. Is light 3/4 cm long and doesnt grow more. The lowest crop doesn't become more then just a crop for weeks now... so maybe I guess the light is not enough?

I have a violacea orchid that is vibing tough! Roots are very well developed and a flower crop is grow but sised upwards... I believe it's trying to reach the light.

What lights would you recomend? Sorry long post

Old Rudsta and New Unicoly!

I found out I was pregnant a few days before my husband and I drove 2.5 hours to the closest ikea for my Rudsta! Took us a couple of weeks but he helped me throw it together, though a lot of my plants suffered terribly through my pregnancy, pp, and then a gallbladder removal 🤣

Now my parents are visiting, and my dad helped me put together a unicoly that we didnt even have to drive to pick up!

Im loving both, but i find that the unicoly needs significantly less weatherstripping to hold humidity (none, in fact) which was a relief. Its also way easier to put together! Its not as deep or wide as the rudsta, but I really love it! My plants are recovering well from pregnancy neglect, and from being eaten by the local squirrels, lol

Some night time fun

Cuz after all, it’s functional art. Why not have it do cool things when the grow lights go out

It took me a year to realize they're perfect for orchids and air plants

...and now I want them alllll. Oh no!

I'm a set-it-and-forget-it type of houseplant person, which doesn't work for many plants. Still figuring out what kinds of plants work with my cabinets and my care style but I love them so much.

My Akerbar nursery cabinet

It's fully weather stripped and has two 1ft Barrina T5 lights that are connected end to end and attached magnetically to the top. We used a step down drill bit and some tape to drill a cable hole in the acrylic side panel without it breaking.

The peg board and shelves are from Modern Aqua. So are the drip trays but they're not worth it. They don't fit flush in the bottom so you lose a couple inches of usable space. I have a second Akerbar I plan to eventually set up and use just for corms

Careful with Govee Hydrometers

Just as an FYI - avoid keeping these in saturated humidity for sustained periods of time like I did. My cabinet is full of pitcher plants and lost a few pitchers from the battery acid leaking down before I realized what was happening.

WHY AM I GETTING NOTIFICATIONS OF THIS SUBREDDIT

I don't even know what this subreddit is. I didn't even ever join it or search it. Why do I get multiple daily notifications of new posts someone help😭😭

Advice for a Noob

Hello plant parents,

I’m about 9 weeks into the hobby and, like many beginners, I think I may have gone a little overboard with plants and plant setups 🤭 My wife used to be heavily into plants before she got sick and lost most of her collection, so now that her interest is coming back, I decided to join her.

The funny part is that I used to criticize her for buying grow lights, shelves, pots, etc., and now I’ve replaced all her old generic grow lights with Barrinas and even picked up a used IKEA Milsbo cabinet without telling her yet 😬

The more plant sellers I visit, the more I notice that almost everyone seems to have some type of IKEA cabinet greenhouse setup. I understand the humidity aspect, but I’m curious if they are really worth the upkeep and space.

For those who own one or multiple cabinets, what are the biggest advantages besides humidity control? Are they truly worth setting up for Philodendrons, Hoyas, and Scindapsus, or is it something that mainly benefits more sensitive plants like Anthuriums and Alocasias?

Please convince me and discourage me at the same time so I can decide whether to set it up or sell it 🤭

Cabinet 2 done for now

Plant cabinet 2 is done running the vivosun environment. So far I’m liking the AC infinity system a lot more. Might take this apart and switch it out.

What are y'all using for humidifiers?

I have tried 2 different 500ml mini humidifier from Amazon. One model I re-bought every 4 months because it would simply stop working, altho it would give about 12 hours of intermittent spray when it was working. But the last 2 I bought simply stopped working after a few hours.

The next 500ml one I bought only lasts a few hours even though it's supposed to work for 8.

Mini-size 500ml -- 750ml humidifiers are the sweet spot for me, as I don't have a lot of room with a Detolf. It's weatherstripped thoroughly but I like to get humidity up to 75 if I can. (With no humidifier it can go down to the high 40s).

I notice that not all of you have humidifiers. How do you do it? And for those who use a humidifier, any product recs?

Edit: I have two fans.
