Public information session planned for proposed Almonte wastewater infrastructure upgrades

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills is moving forward with plans to expand key wastewater infrastructure in Almonte as the community prepares for future residential growth and increased development pressures.

In a release on Friday, May 15, 2026, the municipality announced that it will hold a second public information session next month as part of an ongoing environmental assessment process examining proposed upgrades to the Gemmill’s Bay Wastewater Pumping Station and the Mississippi Mills Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Five Quinte youth to travel to Edmonton for national science fair later this month

Following the Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair (QRSTF) in April, five students from the Quinte region qualified for the highly competitive 2026 Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) to be held in Edmonton, Alberta at the end of this month.

Approximately 400 finalists from across Canada will be presenting their projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They'll be competing for scholarships, awards, and grants in a prize pool valued at approximately $2 million.
