One side of the coin
Assalamualaikum all,
This is for the sisters who haven’t married yet and keep coming across posts that suggest having standards made certain women end up alone or sisters that haven’t married posting about how sad and dull their life is and they regret staying chaste or not dating etc.
Social media is a negative echo chamber and no post gets more hits than one that grabs your brain’s fight or flight mode so mainly posts that suggest you could be in danger or where you perceive future danger
I would like to remind that most people post such things on their bad days, it isn’t as if someone who didn’t get married spends all their days and nights in misery and it isn’t that someone who got married spends all their days and nights in misery.
The post you see is often times what they feel on a certain bad day, and I would like to encourage that if you are posting such things (which is completely valid for you to share concerns and seek reassurance) please also do add if this is an everyday feeling or a once in a few weeks kind of feeling.
Such posts pressurise young women into choosing guys who aren’t good for them and also present marriage as an end goal; which it is not..
