Central Bank of South Ossetia has released a 200 Sarin Banknote

The Central Bank of South Ossetia has released a banknote commemorating Vasily Ivanovich Abayev, an expert in Iranian and Ossetian studies, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Doctor of Philology, Full Member of the Royal Asiatic Society of England, Corresponding Member of the Finno-Ugric Society in Helsinki, two-time laureate of the Kosta Khetagurov Prize, Honored Scientist of North Ossetia, laureate of the USSR State Prize, and recipient of the Order of Honor of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Front:

The front of the banknote is dedicated to the Ossetian language. The main image on the front of the banknote is a portrait of Vasso, a distinguished scholar, philologist, and Ossetian scholar who made a significant contribution to the study of the Ossetian language. To the right of the portrait is the text of his will to his descendants, written in his hand. Below the text, a horizontal ornamental strip depicts books (as physical carriers of language and culture) and a magnifying glass (as a symbol of study and research). The magnifying glass contains an image of the Ossetian letter "æ."

In the upper left corner, on the ornamental strip, is the silhouette of an open book with a Scythian deer figurine inside (the Scythian deer embodies ancestral traditions and also echoes the theme of the back). The Coat of Arms of the Republic of South Ossetia is depicted on a vertical ornamental stripe at the top right.

The denomination of the banknote, "200," is depicted in the lower left and lower right corners.

Reverse:

Dedicated to Ossetian nature. The main image on the back of the banknote depicts two Caucasian red deer, a male and female, against the backdrop of Mount Sanai (Kazbek).

At the bottom right is an image of a Sarmatian bellflower.

The currency symbol "Z" is depicted on the ornamental stripe at the top left.

The denomination of the banknote, "200," is depicted in the lower left and upper right corners.
