Hi everyone,

I’m a 2024 BCA graduate based in Bangalore and currently struggling to land a job. I’m exploring different career paths and recently started considering cybersecurity.

My background:

- Python, OpenCV, YOLO (Computer Vision internship)

- Built projects like vehicle counting and number plate detection

- Basic programming knowledge but no networking or security experience yet

I have a few questions:

  1. Is cybersecurity a good option for someone like me starting from scratch?

  2. How hard is it to get an entry-level job in cybersecurity in India right now?

  3. What should I learn first — networking, Linux, or security tools?

  4. Are certifications (like CEH, Security+) necessary for freshers?

  5. Realistically, how long would it take to become job-ready?

My goal is to get into a stable, well-paying field with long-term growth, but I also need something that won’t take years just to get the first job.

Would really appreciate honest advice from people working in cybersecurity.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2024 BCA graduate based in Bangalore and I’ve been struggling to get a job for the past few months. I’m feeling a bit stuck and would really appreciate honest guidance.

My background:

  • Basic knowledge of Python, OpenCV, and YOLO (did a computer vision internship)
  • Built a few projects (vehicle counting, number plate detection)
  • Still not getting interview calls

Now I’m confused about what to do next.

Options I’m considering:

  • Data Analytics / Data Science
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC)
  • Full-stack development
  • Any other high-demand skill

My main goal:

  • Get a stable job as soon as possible
  • Choose a skill that has long-term growth (not something with a low ceiling)

Questions:

  1. Which field currently has better opportunities for freshers in Bangalore?
  2. Should I focus more on improving projects or take a paid course?
  3. Are bootcamps actually worth it, or should I self-learn?

If anyone has been in a similar situation or is working in these fields, please guide me on what worked for you.

Thanks in advance 🙏
