debating on moving back to nyc with my 3mo daughter
For context: I (23F) previously lived in NYC where I went to nursing school. I met my ex there. Three days after graduation in May 2025, I found out I was pregnant. I decided to move back home to LA to be with my family, and my ex also ended up moving to LA. Long story short, things didn’t work out between us.
I’ve been applying to new grad nursing jobs, but the market in LA is extremely competitive. I haven’t been able to land a single interview. From what I can tell, the job market in NYC isn’t as difficult, and I feel like if I applied there, I would have a better chance of getting hired.
I’ve been considering moving back to NYC with my baby to work, but I’m not sure how realistic that is. I don’t know how I would manage a baby, a job, and housing on my own. Should I stay in LA and keep trying my luck here, or seriously consider moving back to NYC? And if I did move, what would managing everything on my own actually look like?
