Long story short I'm replacing an old fence and gate at the side of my house. I had to over dig the hole to get the concrete footing out and left with some massive holes for small poles.

Do I just put a sonotube down there and then backfill dirt against it ,Then pour concrete in the sonotube? Do I just drop a bunch of HPB down there and hope for the best?

The last fence was at least 20 years old before it rotted out and I'm looking for that kind of longevity again.
