Grimmwood
Built around the idea of the Black Forest, the Brothers Grimm, and a bit of Slavic fairy tales, I present the Grimmwood, a horror fairy tale forested bathed in perpetual midnight. You start off in front of camp with a beware sign. Camp has warmth, essentials, and a town visible in the distance. You have the choice of two paths.
Take the left and you come across the woodsman’s hut, but something’s not right. There’s a book on the floor and scratch marks leading to the forest to a pair of foggy red eyes. Follow the path further and you’ll find downhill from there an arch in bushes. Go through and you encounter the will-o-wisp pool.
Take the right and you first encounter a graveyard. Looks like someone was freshly buried. But you get the feeling you’re being watched. Take the path uphill and you find it curving around the forest to a fork in the road. Go right and you encounter Baba Yaga’s hut! Go left and you go further uphill. There’s a stone wall in the distance. It’s the base of an ancient castle, covered in moss as the first starts to overtake it. Candles remain lit on the staircase to the entrances with a green flame and a dragon watches over all.
