There's a post over on AutismTransated where an NT woman is talking about all of the hints she's dropping on her autistic love interest, and it got me to thinking about all of the hints I've missed over the years. I'm sure there are many that I'm still obliviously unaware of, but many more overt ones I've figured out.

When I was 19, maybe 20, I met the friend of a friend. She and I hit it off immediately. Talked all evening, mostly about music. Eventually, she needed to leave and I offered her a ride (in retrospect, she probably engineered that).

A while later, we're sitting in her driveway, making out. Eventually, she was nibbling on my earlobe with her hand in my pants, and she said "I need to go in. I have work in the morning."

I was disappointed, but I said "Well, it was nice to meet you. Goodnight."

We had previously exchanged numbers, but she never answered when I called.

I can't stop laughing at myself, thinking about this. Who else has missed something this obvious?
