Moving
I know things like this get asked a lot, but I need some advice from folks already living in the area. My family and I currently live in Shreveport, LA, and we’re planning to move to Northwest Arkansas around September. Crime here has gotten so bad that it honestly feels stressful just trying to raise a family. We have a 1-year-old son, and we want him to grow up somewhere safer with more opportunities and a better quality of life. I grew up on a farm, so ideally I’d love to have at least 1–5 acres someday where my kid can actually play outside, ride bikes, explore, etc. I’m not looking to live in the middle of a city, I don’t mind a drive to work. For those of you living in NWA, is this realistically doable on a normal working family income (Im a union plumber, wife is sahm), or are home prices and cost of living really as crazy as people say? We’re open to renting first, but I’m honestly nervous about uprooting my family and then finding out we can’t realistically afford to stay long term.
Any input is greatly appreciated!
