Cox is now part of Spectrum

Just a heads up that the merger for Cox and Charter just completed today. If you need to visit in-store today (or the rest of this week), probably give those guys some grace while systems switch over.

Any authentic Chinese restaurants in the area?

I'm a second generation Chinese-American who grew up on Chinese food and just moved to the area a few months ago. Any authentic Chinese restaurants? I can cook some dishes myself but some I feel like I struggle with or lack the ingredients for.

If not, any grocery stores that sell Chinese ingredients that's in Springdale or south of Springdale?

I just got a text from SWEPCO saying my mother's next bill will be 137% higher than last month!!!!

It's ridiculous and I cannot even imagine how this elderly woman who doesn't even cook for herself and only uses the A/C when I turn it on, has used more electricity in one month than she ever has in her life, apparently.

What do t I know?

Flat format screens in NWA for Odyssey.

Couldn't catch Odyssey since release, what's the best flat (1.85) theatre playing the movie in 4K? I know there's an imax in fayetteville but it's the older 2K xenon, and I'm in bentonville. Any good 4K flat screens in NWA?

Here's a nerdy activity I bet you haven’t tried: Come check out high performance nerf for grown-ups this weekend with us at the NWABC! Free to play and attend!

It's almost that time again at the Northwest Arkansas Blaster Club and we're hosting our LUCKY 13th monthly FREE indoor Nerf Battle this Saturday, August 22nd!

Yes, this is a big step up from the kid's nerfing you did as a child. Today's "pro" level blasters shoot much farther and more accurately, closer to paintball than the toy stuff. You can absolutely hit what you are aiming at, its a great activity for any fitness level. We play indoors in an air-conditioned space.

Game starts 9AM but come by any time between 9 and 1PM. Located at 222 Webber St in West Fork. FREE to play and attend, we can provide all blasters and ammo, just let us know you are coming so we factor you in for supplies. We're also on FB and Discord, feel free to join us at:

Happy to answer questions here too. Hope to meet you at the game!

Non-Religious Population....Where?

One thing that has surprised us since moving from a much less religious place a year ago was just how pervasive Christianity is here. It's everywhere. It gets dropped in conversation, often with the assumption that you share Christian views. People ask where you go to church, or if they know you moved recently, if you've found a "church home" yet. Even some of my purple or liberal-ish friends go to church regularly. We're in Fayetteville, and virtually every time I go in a coffee shop down on Dickson, I overhear someone talking about something related to Christianity. Considering Fayetteville is blue, I figured this wouldn't be so common.

Anyway, what part of NWA would you move to if you wanted to get away from this as much as possible? Bentonville, because of the number of transplants? East Fayetteville? I'm worried that even east Fayetteville will be a bunch of liberals with a BLM sign who are twice-a-weekers at Cross Church. It seems like an odd mix of things.

I've had a lot of instances of someone having some "cultural indicators" that made me think they might not be religious, like being really into the outdoors and having tattoos or something like that. Just things that would make you think they aren't super into church, and this was a pretty reliable indicator for us in our last place. Yet, you start talking to them, and then they drop the Jesus bomb. It's really been surprising.

Edit to address the religion vs politics thing: 62% of voters (per Pew Research) who regularly attend church vote Republican. But, nonetheless, I concede that this is an assumption I made. Liberal college towns, in my experience, have been particularly non-religious places. I assumed that Fayetteville, having a hippie, liberal reputation, would not also feel like the heart of the Bible Belt.

Tabletop gamer new to area

Hi, I recently moved to Springdale from Southern California, and I’m looking for groups locally playing dnd 5.5e or pathfinder 2.1e. I would love to play some of the modules like Abomination Vauts, Tomb of Annihilation, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, or Vecna: Eve of Ruin (always loved the Rod of Seven Parts). Any help would be appreciated.

Second Annual Psychedelic Freedom Conference Hosted in the Ozarks

A local nonprofit known as Psychedelic Society of the Ozarks or “PSOTO”, is once again hosting their annual conference at the University Plaza Convention Center downtown Springfield on Saturday, October 3rd. Centered on education, advocacy, harm reduction and creating safe community spaces, the group is bringing in 25+ speakers from diverse backgrounds such as; science, modern medicine, law, psychology, neurology, and ancient wisdom.

The keynote speaker is Lieutenant Sarko Gergerian, who was featured on the Netflix documentary series "How to Change Your Mind". Lunch entertainment will be hosted by Comedy Central’s Award winning comedian Shane Mauss! (Have a Good Trip).

A key feature of the conference will be “Knowledge for the Front Lines.” Addressing the invisible wounds, trauma and PTSD suffered by first responders, military and veterans. Medical breakthroughs are being seen through psychedelic therapy, and the VA, State government and White House are starting to notice. This is extremely important work, as statistics show a staggering 17 veterans taking their own life every single day. (Over 6,000 suicides per year).

Arkansas Goat Festival replaces local artists with AI

Today the Arkansas Goat Festival released their new t-shirt design on Facebook and seemed shocked when their obvious AI design received a less than stellar reaction. In previous years, these shirts were designed by local artists so it was especially hurtful to the local community. Instead of acknowledging the whole fiasco, they took down the design (while still planning to sell it), and doubled down by making another post telling people to stop being rude. They then deleted that one, too. With most of Arkansas fighting to keep AI data centers out of our state, it’s a bold move for a small town festival to take work from Arkansas artists while promoting AI artwork.

SOAR NWA festival is awesome every year!

I took 2 friends to SOAR NWA hot air balloon festival last night in Bentonville. I've been going to that Festival almost every year since they started having it originally in Fayetteville. It is for a great cause, supporting Open Avenues and it's a wonderful (hot, but fun) event. I took this picture during the balloon glow. I highly recommend attending this Festival if you never have. It is every summer at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Open Avenues is a nonprofit that helps individuals with disabilities find employment and gain independence.

Washington Regional c-section

Planning on having a scheduled c-section at Washington regional for identical twins. Wondering if anyone is willing to share their experience? Is your husband allowed in the room from start to finish? Do they keep you longer for recovery? Can you listen to music? Lol. Any info is appreciated!

Buying house next to chicken houses

Wife and I are looking at a Buffington Homes neighborhood that has a house we really like. Was able to get the price to a reasonable amount, in a really good area except for the fact that the specific house we want literally shares a fence with a chicken house/operation.

Everyone I speak to says not to buy the house which sucks because it’s the only house we’ve found that has everything that we want. Reminds us of an east coast house, it’s perfect aside from the chicken house.

Smell and resale value are the main things people keep bringing up which I agree with to a certain point, but I’ve been to the neighborhood multiple times during the heat of the day, and there was only one occasion where I smelled anything, and it was faint…something I personally could live with, but I know would cause issues when it came time to sell in the next 10 years, and potentially when we decide to rent if we leave the area within the next 2-3 years.

Since we aren’t from the area we rely on other peoples perspectives that are from this area, like I said everyone had told us not to do it so expecting the same here but still want to expand the pool of opinions.

Makes me sad we likely have told us let the house go because again, it’s an awesome house, but feel like the future financial aspect make it a bad deal.

Where are the best places to watch Kansas City Chiefs games in Northwest Arkansas?

Before some wiseguy says, "Just drive to KC," I would if that was a practical option, but it's not. I've seen older posts mention Farrell's on Dickson in Fayetteville, but are there any other good options anywhere in NWA that aren't chain restaurants like BWW and where it hopefully won't cost me extra just to park? Cat-trick Mahomes thanks you in advance.
