I took 2 friends to SOAR NWA hot air balloon festival last night in Bentonville. I've been going to that Festival almost every year since they started having it originally in Fayetteville. It is for a great cause, supporting Open Avenues and it's a wonderful (hot, but fun) event. I took this picture during the balloon glow. I highly recommend attending this Festival if you never have. It is every summer at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Open Avenues is a nonprofit that helps individuals with disabilities find employment and gain independence.

Next weekend (6/12-6/14) is the annual free fishing weekend for all of Arkansas. Arkansas residents and nonresidents can fish in any public waters across the state without needing a fishing license.

Lots of parents start searching for local VBS programs in the summer, so a few years ago I started putting together an article with as many as I could find. I only include free VBS programs. Hope this is helpful to some of you. If you know of some I've missed, feel free to let me know.
