Buying house next to chicken houses
Wife and I are looking at a Buffington Homes neighborhood that has a house we really like. Was able to get the price to a reasonable amount, in a really good area except for the fact that the specific house we want literally shares a fence with a chicken house/operation.
Everyone I speak to says not to buy the house which sucks because it’s the only house we’ve found that has everything that we want. Reminds us of an east coast house, it’s perfect aside from the chicken house.
Smell and resale value are the main things people keep bringing up which I agree with to a certain point, but I’ve been to the neighborhood multiple times during the heat of the day, and there was only one occasion where I smelled anything, and it was faint…something I personally could live with, but I know would cause issues when it came time to sell in the next 10 years, and potentially when we decide to rent if we leave the area within the next 2-3 years.
Since we aren’t from the area we rely on other peoples perspectives that are from this area, like I said everyone had told us not to do it so expecting the same here but still want to expand the pool of opinions.
Makes me sad we likely have told us let the house go because again, it’s an awesome house, but feel like the future financial aspect make it a bad deal.
