Authoritarian Design

Basically, Apple used to design their phones with additions and options you could choose. Now, they are designing phones to make their new additions and options as default, with no easy way to remove the default. From banners covering the screen, to new features on screen which block or make hard to read other parts of the screen and require a scroll down to read the essential part of the screen, to deciding when and what you want to hear, the design has now become a good example of an authoritative power ethos of a corporation catering to people who enjoy having their phone engage them, whether requested or not. I have no problem with Apple adding banners or other additions so long as they are options that are not default options. I want a simple phone and don't want options unless I choose them that cause more clicks, more scrolling, and generally engage me without my wanting to be engaged.

The latest example: I spent half an hour last night with Chatgpt trying to find a way to stop my phone from auto playing the last podcast I listened to every time I turn on my phone. Chatgpt said Apple changed from this never happening to what it is now, without an easy way to stop it. For instance, I can pause a podcast, go to emails, chats, etc. .....and the next morning Apple has decided by design that I want to hear the last podcast and it auto plays. Any suggestions?
