What the hell is this?

I really don’t think we should be allowing this. Religion has already done enough damage to Africa. It’s shouldn’t inconvenience us any further…while we are at it, can we advocate to remove loudspeakers from Mosques and Churches? Why stop there? Do it Kagame style and shut them down for good if their leaders don’t have the qualifications needed to be a pastor or an Imam.

What are we praying for anyway? Health and hospitals? Good infrastructure? Guess fucking what? China systematically destroyed Religions and built all that shit. So did the rest of the developed world. Mnashangaa wakituita low IQ, how do we explain these shenanigans?

Is Revolution the Answer?

Wadau, nimejam mbaya sana. I live in Ontario, a Canadian province of roughly 16 million people with an economy 5-6X times larger than Kenya’s. Over the past eight years, the provincial leader spent about $44,000 Canadian dollars on travel, and people are furious he spent that much. Like wamekasirika mbaya sana. Mind you, this guy travels and signs business deals left right and center. He is in charge of a province with close to a TRILLION dollar GDP.

Now compare that with the motherland, where his stealership (sorry, highness) spends more than $13 million US Dollars a year on travel. Despite all those trips, what tangible economic benefits can ordinary Kenyans point to?
Like what deals did he sign that we can point to and say, “yeah, that’s good shit”

For comparison, Singapore’s prime minister often flies on the country’s national airline. Yeah, he flies KQ ya Singapore. Yet we’re constantly told Kenya is on its way to becoming “the next Singapore.”

My question is this: if our only solution is chanting “one term,” what stops the next thief from repeating the exact same pattern? At what point do we stop focusing on personalities and start demanding institutions that hold every leader accountable? How do we send a message? Sitaki kubaniwa, but me naona we send a message that we are not about this bullshit.

A government parastatal asking for my tribe?

Lately, i have been looking for a job back home. Google led me to a government parastatal (Geothermal Development, or GDC).

Well, the first issue was that i couldn't view current openings without creating an account. hakuna issue hapa. I created an account, then they wanted more info, ghafla bin vu there is a required field that i must fill. Me nashangaa, kwani nimeclick the wrong website buana? nope.

Isn't this the shit we are fighting? How come tribe is a factor in hiring in 2026? we are so cooked. Na venye i was bragging to the wazungus how cool we are as Kenyans. Wacha tu nikae diaspora mimi.

EDIT: I see some people are defending this shit sijui “oh it’s meant to curb hiring bias, to prevent one ethnic group from dominating bla bla” and to some degree, I actually think the intention was good..but that doesn’t mean it will work as intended. There are so many better ways to achieve that goal, but we somehow ended up with the worst option. How about anonymized applications? Or use county of residence instead of ethnicity? Even better, diverse hiring panels.

What’s up with the used car market in this city?

Insurance declared my vehicle a total loss and I’m in the market for a replacement. All my life I’ve never owned a new vehicle because I am cheap bastard, but I also always found a decent older Toyota or Honda for a fair price.

But now, holy smokes. People are selling 5-6 year old vehicles for only 10-15% less than the MSRP of a brand-new one. I’m seeing 2020 CR-Vs and RAV4s with close to 100,000 km listed around $30,000. At that point, why wouldn’t I just spend a bit more and buy new? I see online the base model for the CR-V is around $39k.. and quite frankly, that’s all I need.

Are sellers just pricing high and hoping for the best, or is there still a genuine supply shortage keeping used prices elevated?

Anyways, I gave up! I’m seriously considering buying new instead. Looking at a 2026 CR-V, RAV4, or Mazda CX-5. For those who have shopped recently, what’s your experience been like, and are there any Edmonton dealers you’d recommend?

Curious why we have to go through AUSC to connect with academic experts

Like, why can't we just connect with our Academic experts directly through Teams and Outlook, or even that mail thingy in Brightspace? Pardon me, it is my first semester, and i find that we have multiple communication channels, but we choose the least efficient one.
