The "Definitions of Woman and Man" Bill passed its first reading

The "Definitions of Woman and Man" Bill passed its first reading

Let's talk about what’s actually happening here.🚨

Let's look past the hyper-emotional rhetoric on both sides and see this bill for what it truly is: a classic political wedge issue designed to divide us, consolidate votes, and distract us from the real crises facing everyday people.

Here are three reasons why this bill deserves to be dismantled:

  1. It’s a manufactured distraction from real problems.📉

While our healthcare system is under massive strain, costs are squeezing families, and public infrastructure needs serious investment, certain politicians want us spending our energy fighting over dictionary definitions. Passing a law like this costs the state nothing except fat wallets for the politicians from our taxes, it fixes zero economic problems, but successfully dominates the media cycle. Divides us all in a cultural war of arbitrary attrition of women's rights and trans rights.

It’s high-visibility, low-utility politics at its finest.

  1. It tries to force an unyielding binary onto a complex reality.🧬

By attempting to legally reduce humanity into two strict, rigid boxes, the bill runs into immediate real-world failures. It completely ignores intersex individuals born with natural biological variations, and it creates bizarre, unworkable anomalies for people who have lived and transitioned under our existing legal frameworks for years. The law should protect people, not create bureaucratic chaos out of human diversity. I recall this coalition saying they wanted to do away with unnecessary bureaucracy.

I'll simplify the topic of biological sex and gender identity for this, alright. Ones born with the bits. The other is living dynamic identity. The idea you can only be in one biological category or the other is ideological.it's the same ideology that has demeaned and denigrated women and given them non equal status in comparison to man for centuries. why a group of women are fighting the LGBT community is beyond me. When historically. Many trans and gay woman have helped the rights of all women. Consequently enough for them to be able to begin infighting for an arbitrary definition on biology that's in biology books already. Someone calling themselves a woman isn't Infringing on someone being a woman, legally they're both women. just as much as someone calling themselves a man doesn't infringe on me being a man. Legally both men. I don't whip my junk out in court to prove it legally. It's a matter of fact we need to have an expanding framework as we evolve socially. The genie is out of the bottle.

  1. True freedom means letting people live their lives.🕊️

If someone wants to live their life as a man, a woman, fluid, or completely outside the box—how does that genuinely infringe on your day-to-day legal rights? It doesn't. A strong, mature society operates on a simple principle: protect people from actual harm, deal with real bad actors, and let everyone else live in peace.

We are living in an era of unprecedented personal autonomy. Turning human identity into a political football doesn't protect women, and it doesn't help our laws or the nz economy. It just fractures our communities so we stop looking at the structural issues that actually matter.

Let people be whoever they are, and let's get back to fixing real problems. Like preventing violent crimes or funding our firefighters or health employment. It's a full deck of cards. Heaps to choose from. ✊

Focus on real issues. Not about the times I like to wear a dress.
