Guys, I got a laptop with a 12th-gen i7 i7 1255U, and since building a PC (even a basic one) in my country (Brazil) is very expensive, I decided to try installing an eGPU after seeing a Brazilian YouTube video. The GPU I was thinking about using is the RX 580 via slot ssd m.2. Do you think it would work?

I’ve watched some videos and the results seem pretty good, but I’m not sure if they’re real because I’m not very knowledgeable about this stuff. I would try installing the eGPU either in the Wi-Fi card slot or in the storage slot where the SSD is currently installed, and then run the operating system from an external SSD. What do you guys think? Here’s some of the information:

Video name (I think I can’t post links in this subreddit) for you guys to check it out:

•Title of the video in Portuguese where I saw the eGPU installation: mega pc do lançador de teia: como instalar placa de vídeo externa (EGPU) no notebook

•YouTube channel name:web shooter

Laptop specs:

• i7-1255U

• Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics (6 GB VRAM)

• 12 GB RAM

• Windows 11

• 512 GB NVMe SSD

• Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15IAU7

Thanks in advance

I  downloaded DmC: Devil May Cry from Steamrip on MegaDB (and it has the same size, 9.6 GB, as the original game on Steam).

After extracting the .rar file and scanning it with Microsoft Defender, a supposed virus was detected: HackTool:Win32/Crack!MSR in the file steam_api.dll.

When I uploaded this file to VirusTotal, it showed 40/72 detections.

I researched and found that it is a common tool used for cracking games and allows access.

I also monitored the Windows Task Manager and did not see any strange processes, and CPU/RAM usage remains normal.

I found it strange because I downloaded other pirated games (DmC HD Collection, DmC 4 SE, DmC 5, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2, Sonic Unleashed, MK9, and X-Men Origins Wolverine), and all of them showed at most 2 detections on VirusTotal (which suggests false positives), and Windows Defender did not detect anything.

I uninstalled the game and deleted everything related to it because I wanted to use other players’ save files, but that’s not possible in this game. After that, I scanned my laptop with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, and both showed no detections.

So just to confirm… am I safe?

Thank you.
