When it comes to buying electronics, I run myself in circles trying to decide what to get. And I’m doing it right now.

So I already have a solid desktop gaming PC. This handheld would mostly be for playing my Steam library in bed/on the couch/traveling (although I don’t travel much so battery life shouldn’t be a huge factor).

Current options I’m considering (Best Buy pricing):

- Legion Go S 8” SteamOS (open box excellent) $650
- Legion Go 8.8” Windows $850
- ROG Xbox Ally 7” (open box excellent) $462
- Just save up and go all in for a ROG Xbox Ally X $1000
- Or wait for Steam Deck restock

I’ll admit I’m not super knowledgeable when it comes to specs, so I’m trying to figure out what’s the best value for me.

I care about comfort, overall experience, picture quality, and I do like bigger screens. but the extra money (for the legion 8.8) may just not be worth it.
And how much better is the Ally X over the S anyway? Is it worth the $600 difference?
I can save my more demanding games for my PC and PS5 if need be.

I think the Ally 7” is the most appealing solely due to the price but the size of the screen puts me off a bit. I love the size of my Switch 2 screen. Maybe I’m being too picky. Anyway feel free to recommend others too. I only really started looking into the handheld market recently and I’m learning. Thanks :)
