OFA any fun?
I’ve been working at Home Depot since March as a Lot Associate/Cashier and it was fun at first. I’m well liked by management and they’ve let me get my forklift licence already and I get to work in receiving too. They also have me starting some training in lumber. The problem is my store has 5 lot associates total, and I’m the one they rely on most because the only guy that’s been there longer than me does nothing while he’s on the floor, and then disappears for an hour at a time and nobody knows where he is, which means I’m also in charge of training all of the new guys in my department. I got hired as part time and haven’t had less than 30 hours a week since I started, usually in the range of 37-40.5 which was nice for money but I’m done showing up for my shift at 7am and being told I’m the only one scheduled today, with no one coming in after me so I have to do all the carryouts while also keeping the parking lot as clean as possible because no one is helping me, just to come in the next day to what can only be described as a bomb went off in the parking lot because there was no closer. I’m just tired of it now and want to get into something new here. A daytime order picker listing just went up in my store yesterday and I’m really thinking about asking about it today or tomorrow.
Anyone working this right now able to chime in and give me the true ins and outs of the job so I know what to expect before committing to something new?
Thanks in advance!!
