Best home water filters for chlorine taste and hard water?

I’m trying to choose a filter for an older house where the tap water has a noticeable chlorine taste and leaves white scale around the faucets. I haven’t installed anything yet because I’m planning to get the water tested first, but I’m unsure what system makes sense: an Aquasana or Waterdrop carbon filter, a two-stage sediment and carbon setup, or a Bluevua reverse osmosis system for drinking water. My budget is around $200–$700, and I’m more concerned about filter life and replacement costs than having the most advanced setup. Would you start with a basic carbon filter after testing, or go straight to RO for drinking and cooking? Also, are scale-inhibitor cartridges worth considering for moderately hard water, or is a softener the only real solution?

Best cordless drills for basic home projects under $200?

I’m slowly replacing my old corded Ryobi tools and need a cordless drill for normal house stuff: assembling furniture, hanging shelves, drilling into wood, and the occasional stubborn screw. I’m trying to stay under $200 for a kit with a battery and charger, and I’ve been looking at Ryobi ONE+, DeWalt Atomic, Makita 18V, Milwaukee M12, and maybe a Ridgid or Kobalt deal. I know people get very loyal about tool brands, but I’m more worried about buying into a battery system that becomes expensive later. If you could only buy one tool first, would you choose a regular drill/driver or an impact driver? And which battery platform gives the best value for a homeowner who might add a few tools over time?
