Question a fictional scam

Hello

Are there any people knowledgable on fraud here? Or maybe just crime in general.

Towards the end of my story the characters go to an ayahuasca ceremony at a wellness retreat in the south of Spain (north of Orgiva). The ceremony turns out to be a scam and they are drugged and defrauded... or that is implied as the intention. They actually escape.

MORE DETAILS: The crime is never actually seen by the reader as the characters escape, but it is important for the criminal's actions to seem plausible, or to have plausible implications.

Before attending the retreat, each guest has paid a 500 euro entry fee, but on arrival they are asked to hand in their phones as part of a 'digital detox'. Instead of ayahuasca they are given Scopolomine and GHB and the criminals would use their fingerprints to unlock phones whilst they are unconscious/vulnerable. Scopolomine would also impede memory. Criminals would then disappear and as they paid for retreat via crypto and false names, they would be hard to trace.

Crimes like this do take place in Spain, except not quite as elaborate . Usually they just take yiur money and there is no retreat, or it is a more prolonged thing where people are coerced and abused under intoxication to give more money for further spiritual 'guidance'.

Thanks in advance

Help with research for a novel

Hello people of Zaragoza!

I am writing a novel located in an area of remote rural Spain, a place where people have the potential to wander off and get lost! I have settled on the Sierra de Alcubierre region just outside Zaragoza, but cannot travel at the moment. I would like to speak to anyone who knows this region for tech ical questions and just a general idea of what it is like. The customs, food etc.

Thanks you in advance!

Hello r/flightattendants !

Hello r/flightattendants !

I am writing a novel and was hoping someone here might be able to help.

In the story, my protagonist is scheduled to get his flight on a Monday from a small airport in Northern Spain. Therehas been a heatspike, however, and his flight has been cancelled. He has to rebook his flight, but the next available isn't until Wednesday.

Is this at all plausible?

Thanks in advance

Contemporary Bildungsroman

Hello

I am looking for literary contemporary bildungsroman/coming of age stories. To be more specific, stories in which the narrator is looking back retrospectively at their youth. So not like Catcher in the Rye, where the narrator is adolescent. I was think more like Metroland by Julian Barnes. Also, I am particularly interested in school years and stories set in the UK.

Any help most appreaciated !

What do people mean by 'relatable characters' and why is it important?

A lot of people seem to think relatable characters are important, but the more I look into this, the less I understand what they mean by relatable.

For some, this seems to mean the character's motivations are understandable and logicaly consistent with their psychology. But surely that is plausibility? Psychological plausibility is important, but it doesn't have to be relatable. Patrick Bateman's actions are entirely plausible, for example, and consistent, but I don't relate to him. And yet American Psycho is a very compelling narrative, if you ask me. The same can be said about Lolita, Journey to the End of Night by Celine, Money by Martin Amis etc etc.

A character being relatable to me, means that the character is similar to me. I can identify with them and how they act. But why would I only read about people similar to me?

I am genuinely interested to hear what people mean by relatability.

Looking for fiction with dual or triple narratives across time but in the same place. Litersry rather than genre.

Hello, i am undertaking a writing project which is centered around an old meteorological observation tower. There will be three narratives at different historical periods centered around the tower. I am wondering if anyone could suggest any similarly structured books? The story is less genre inclined-- so not a mystery or romance hook etc. But more literary, centered on characters. Anything with narratives across historical periods centered around a common theme/object/place.
