I have to change mesh size frequently for mesh sensitivity study, I am doing it by deleting elements, regenerating with different mesh size or scaling them. But deletion and regeneration require me to edit the boundary conditions and node sets each time. The split/merge function provides merge operation for shell only, and I am using solid.

Is there any way to merge elements in LS-Dyna. In the picture, you can see that bottom elements are bigger in height, while the upper ones are half the size. I want to merge two adjacent elements together, so they have bigger height as the ones outside yellow box.

We are four housemates living together. Three of them have been sharing the house for about two years, and I moved in a year ago.

One of the major issues we are facing is with one housemate who smokes indoors. He usually smokes in the living room without opening doors or ensuring any ventilation, so the smoke lingers in the shared space. On top of that, he leaves his ashtray with used cigarettes on the dining table.

We have raised this issue with him multiple times, and always in a polite way. We only asked him to at least open doors or improve ventilation while smoking indoors. However, instead of cooperating, he tends to respond defensively and sometimes sarcastically. It feels less like ignorance and more like he is deliberately disregarding our concerns.

The issue is not just about smoking; it is about a lack of basic consideration and respect in a shared living environment. Today, I asked him again to keep the doors open while smoking, he again became sarcastic and I shared him a link of passive smoking problems in our house group, and he responded "Don't get worried, I will keep the doors open during smoking" as if he is doing me a favor.

I am working on timber-concrete composites which fail in either shear or compression. I have gone through the DATABASE_EXTENT_BINARY for my materials. I can see the failure using the history variables, but the damage mode is still not clear as if it is shear or compression.

I want to learn more about it, because I think that I am unable to interpret the results of history variables.

Can someone suggest any informative source about the history variables in LS-Dyna other than the LS-Dyna manuals and dynasupport site?
