Hello,

I’m looking into buying a W222 S450 from an auction. I understand the risks involved — this isn’t my first time buying from an auction. Usually, I deal with Korean cars like Kias and Hyundais, but this would be my first German car.

Upon inspection, the car seems fine. It starts and drives normally, and there’s no check engine light.

Vehicle: W222 S450 (M267 engine)
Mileage: 98,000 km (~60,000 miles)

Does the engine sound healthy to you guys?

I avoided the S550 because, from my research, the S450 engine seems to be more reliable overall.

Also, do you guys have any tips for owning or maintaining a German car, especially an S-Class? Fingers crossed I can win this baby at a reasonable price, considering the risks of buying sight unseen.
