Just picked up this CPO GLS! First Mercedes - green w/ Bahia brown interior is lovely spec. Can’t believe they discontinued this color! Any love for this color? Don’t see too many out there.
Bought a new 2027 GLS 450 and added:
Prime Protect: $8,863 for 7 years, apparently unlimited miles/Level 3.
SA Complete Care: $5,531 for tire/wheel, dents, windshield and key coverage.
Financed at 6.99%. Planning to keep it 7 years and drive 16k miles/year.
Are these reasonable prices? Since Mercedes already includes 4 years/50k miles, would you cancel Prime and buy coverage later? Dealer says prices increase if I wait.
Anyone have firsthand claims experience with either?
Maybe somebody knows where this rattling at the beginning comes from?

The chain got replaced last week and for the first like 20 engine starts cold/warm the car sounded completely fine.

The digital cluster blacked out on a 2026 GLC 300 with less than 8k miles. I tried resetting it multiple times and it has been a day, with no success. Dealership/service center says they have no availability to help out
What’s up guys I just bought this 2020 AMG C43 with 11k miles from a MB dealership in CA for $38k. Did I get a good deal? Single owner (old guy who barely drove it) and fully serviced at the MB dealer. It’s pretty optioned out including AMG exhaust, upgraded headlights, interior lighting, etc. I am missing the night package that blacks everything out and have the 18 inch rims vs the larger 19 inch. Any opinions or pieces of advice for upgrades would be appreciated.
My wife has a 2014 ML350 with a light gray interior with a dark gray dash. Just like the one in the picture. The top of her steering wheel and the seat bolster are of course both starting to crack pretty badly. I can't figure out the actual color codes for either color though. I think the lighter seat color is "alpaca gray" but there don't seem to be enough pictures online to support or deny it. I'm finding even less info on the gray dash/steering wheel; it seems like every other w166 just had black. Any guesses?
I’ve had it about 10 days or so now. and so far she’s driven brilliantly. Acceleration is pretty decent considering how old it is. She feels like a tank on the road, very planted. Gear shifts are smoother than my 2025 GX 550. The only real issue I have is that I’m missing one fog light, which I need to purchase, so I will be handling that. probably in the spring. I will go through the top and replace the hydraulic system as it’s never been done, and I can tell it’s a little sticky, but that’s a tomorrow problem in Utah seeing as we are going into the cooler time of year. Other than that, coil overs have been ordered. Wheels have been ordered, still looking at exhausts, nothing crazy. Just something with a little bit of a deeper tone. Those will be winter projects. Fun fact: I didn’t know these things had puddle lights.

If you had to pick one Mercedes for long distance driving, which model would you choose?
I’m mainly thinking about 4 to 8 hour highway trips, not daily commuting. For me, comfort is probably the biggest factor, especially the seats, ride quality, cabin noise, and how relaxed the car feels after a few hours on the road.
I’ve been looking at models like the E Class, S Class, CLS, and some of the AMG models, but I’d love to hear from people who actually take their Mercedes on longer trips.
What model do you have, and how does it feel after driving for several hours? Anything you particularly like or dislike about it for road trips?
I saw this beauty on Monday, contacted the owner, it was in Colorado, made an offer to buy it, we agreed on a price, arranged for transport on Tuesday, picked up on Wednesday, and in my driveway on Thursday.
Great service history, great condition. Everything works. Books full set, both sets of keys, put about 100 miles on it today. Took it for an oil change. and to just get a quick inspection. was told it didn’t need it, that everything looked great. Took it to the DMV, registered it, paid my tax. The radio had the code on, but when I opened up the books, the code was in there. I punched the code in and lo and behold, the radio came on. Works great! Set the clock just got back from another drive. I rinsed it off a little bit.
On order are some wheels, some coil overs, a different exhaust tip, a muffler delete.
This weekend, getting a whole paint correction interior conditioned shampooed, clay bar wax, it will look amazing. It pulls strong, runs like a champ. I couldn’t be happier.
Coming up on 50k miles, what maintenance do you guys recommend I absolutely get done?
Car suddenly wouldn't start — worked fine that morning, dead by that afternoon. No slow decline beforehand.
Symptoms:
Cranks strong and consistently — no slow/labored cranking
Dash lights come up fully, no dimming during crank
Fuel pump primes normally (hear the whir when key goes to position 2)
Serpentine belt spins normally during crank (confirmed engine is actually turning over)
Steering wheel unlocks fine when cranking (no longer locked)
OBD2 scan (standard, not Mercedes-specific) shows no codes at all
Dash intermittently shows a "remove key" message — not every attempt, inconsistent
SRS "Restraint system malfunction, drive to workshop" warning also present (unsure if related)
A high-pitched whir noise heard during cranking, traced to alternator area (confirmed separate from starter — belt/pulleys were visibly spinning normally)
Charged all batteries fully — no change
OBD2 scan — no codes
Mobile mechanic came out, said "no issue found" but tried to sell a new programmed key without actually diagnosing further
Locksmiths say "if it cranks and wheel unlocks, it can't be the immobilizer" — not sure this is accurate for this platform
My leading theories (unconfirmed):
ELV/EZS steering lock module failing to complete electronic handshake with ECU (even though mechanical unlock works)
Crank/cam position sensor signal issue (wouldn't always throw a code)
Fuel pressure problem despite pump priming normally
Possible wiring/ground fault
Question: Has anyone dealt with this exact pattern on a W164? Is this consistent with ELV/EZS, or does the "remove key" message + good crank + no codes point somewhere else? Trying to figure out what question to ask a shop before paying for more diagnostics.
What is your opinion on the sound of this engine?

I have a 2020 GLS 450 with about 52k miles, and recently it started showing an overheating warning on the dash.
I took it to the dealer, and thankfully they said they didn’t find any major issues with the cooling system. Apparently, the heat shield was making contact with the thermostat and needed to be repaired/replaced.
Has anyone else experienced this with their GLS 450? I’m curious if this is a known issue or something others have run into.
Either way, a $1,000 repair bill at 52k miles isn’t exactly fun.

I've got a Mercedes c class Kompressor 2006 but my brake lights aren't working does anyone know where I could possibly get two of these it's a 5 bulb one not a 6 bulb.
The brake light and indicator light isn't working and I'm not an expert on cars so any help would be appreciated.
