The Spider
If season 5 takes a giant turn, I think I know what the spider may be, inspo anyway.
The last show title of this season is a reference to reality vs perception, so keep this in mind. Also Julie's illusion shirt and all the references to mind control and space and atar magic etc
A book I read a long time ago had a short story in it called Beyond The Aquila Rift. In the story, a deep space cargo captain wakes up from cryosleep and realizes the ship missed a really important wormhole and now the ship is wildly off course. He thinks he is recovering in remote deep space station, somehow his ex gf is there. He slowly realizes that his gf is actually this spider like alien who has been creating a comforting illusion of being on the station with the ex gf in order to shield him from the truth. The truth is that the ship went way too far off course, many years have passed, everyone he has ever known is long dead, and there is no way home. The ex is not his ex, but instead the alien. They are not on a remote station. They are in a gross decaying alien environment surrounded by other stranded ships with dying travelers. The spider uses illusions on all of them to prevent them from seeing the truth because every time the captain and everyone else see the actual alien and the actual environment, they are unable to handle it and their minds completely break from hopelessness. Every time the captain's mind breaks, the spider resets the illusion to start the cycle again until the truth is learned and the mind breaks again. The story implies this has happened many cycles with many people.
In this story, the spider isnt particularly evil, it's ambiguous if good or bad but does imprison everyone in the illusion. The spider is capable of reading minds and creating highly immersive mental environments.
The story is in a book called Constellations (which is also interesting that Jade said capricorn would be the safe word).
The settings are very different, but there are at least some interesting thematic parallels between the story and From.
Anyway, check it out if it interests you.
